Almost the same amount as that Lizzie memorial….

Better than taxpayer’s money I’d say!

Hoping it can be held until we see what way the rebel government goes, then use it to facilitate rebuilding if they continue to move in a moderate direction.

Take it, and use the money to help all the Syrian refugees get back home. Anything left over, give to the Syrians to help with rebuilding the nation.

    4. And that’s just what he had while living and working in London.

Very much doubt he will be back to his old haunts anytime soon.

Seize it to house, feed and clothe the homeless in London so they don’t have to be out in the cold.

    6. How much have UK businesses been compelled to spend on Anti Money Laundering policies and procedures?

Meanwhile the City’s banks coin it in flagrantly facilitating dictators.

    7. In case people aren’t aware Assad’s wife Asmaa is a British citizen as are their children, as a result she cannot be sanctioned and neither can her children.

I’m guessing this money is in her/her family’s name and thus technically free to use.

That is chump change. He’s been running a captagon and fentanyl narco-state for about ten years.
That money is on its way to Moscow.

    9. Had. The Syrian government is the new owner. It is the same with everything Assad and his wife owned in the UK.

    10. Why would anyone keep their money in the UK?

The russians and Venezuela learned the hard way .

Lots of countries and individuals will be watching closely and will not keep money (dirty or clean) in London.

London is swimming in stolen loot.

I’d be surprised if a British bank didn’t have stolen money from dictators in it

    12. That is a surprisingly reasonable amount for a national leader.

This is probably just a living fund for him and especially for Asma and the kids.

It’s hard to argue that they should be subject to more sanctions now, when they have no power to do anything bad any more, than they were as the first family of Syria. Their assets have been frozen, but not subject to seizure.

That money should be confiscated by our government: who will make sure it is swiftly and thoughtlessly wasted (or pocketed by themselves and their mates.).

Seize it and give it back to the new regime.. and ask for refund of the £50million we already committed

55m is like pocket change to him. He was manufacturing and selling drugs to most of the middle east.
