    1. Ffs 12 I was still playing subbuteo two man hunt and chap door run away. Ffs world has turned for the worse.

    2. I get that they can’t name the kids but when this trial is done the parents should be named and shamed.

    3. I feel as though the important part of the story is too far down:

      > A 15-year-old boy has already been charged with the murder of Mr Kohli.

There is some nuance to this story missed from this article here that I want to fully hear before I pass judgement.

    4. Let’s not go down the path of “when I was 12” etc. kids have always been stupid at that age. We had horrible things happen that involve young teens like this when I was growing up. This isn’t me defending it ofc but this isn’t a “this never happened when I was that age” thing. Sorry to the family of the old boy.

I mean, in a sense, good?

I think there’s sometimes a temptation to minimise the culpability of the ‘hanger ons’ in a group attack situation, especially if they’re a younger girl hanging out with (slightly) older lads. But, if she was part of the group and therefore acting in concert, she’s potentially culpable and deserves a day in court to decide her fate as much as others involved.

Hugely tragic case but justice must be seen to be done.

    6. Imagine reaching the ripe age of 80 and being taken out by feral kids. Of course they’re all victims. Except the parents because if there is anyone to blame it is them.

I’m sorry I know that parenting is hard but you chose to have them. I hope at the very least the kids are taken away, given plenty of support and a new life.

Although this crime is tragic, you have to wonder how many other near misses there have been. If parents can see that if their kids fuck up, they and the other kids will be taken away from them, the parents who do care might step up and start raising their kids better.

Does anyone have an explanation as to why if someone else was already arrested and charged for murder, why this 12 yo girl is now being charged with manslaughter?

Does it mean she gave information to help the boy murder him?

I feel like this article is so vague that I don’t really understand what’s going on.

Is it strange that I no longer flinch when reading a headline like this?
It just seems like normality now

    9. I get they describe him as a grandfather instead of a man to really twist the knife, but the headline makes it sound like he was the grandfather of the 12-year-old.

    10. When this case was first in the news the story was that a gang of young teens harassed the victim with racial slurs for some days and then physically attacked him in a park. The racial slurs were reported to the Police because they became more frequent and threatening, but no action taken.

The age of criminal responsibility is 10 in the U.K., I think the accused should be named if found guilty.

Am I only one who initially read the headline as suggesting he was the girl’s grandfather.

    12. I appreciate I’m making some assumptions here but as one person stated elsewhere, earlier reports listed a history of racial slurs directed at the victim here.
I hope Farage and his sorts all understand that this sort of attack is blood on their hands and will happen more and more frequently as a direct result of their racist political rhetoric. We can say that racism exists and always has under the surface but the rise of these parties and the legitimising of their hatred are emboldening people to express their vile opinions publicly and influence children who lack the same critical thinking and will act with much less consideration.
Such a waste of life on all sides.

She cannot be named for legal reasons.

She can murder someone but cannot be named for legal reasons. How insane is that.

My dad is 87. I never thought I would have to protect him from murderous yobs who have barely grown out of diapers but here we are. What a waste of that poor man’s life.

    14. Too early to judge.
Would be interesting to know why she is charged with manslaughter while the co-accused is charged with murder.

    15. 12 we were playing knock down ginger or football in the park with coats as goals. Are parents not parenting anymore.

    16. Broccoli--Enthusiast on

      Weak law again

She murdered him. Give the lot of them whole life orders

Nothing they can ever do will redeem their worthless lives.

    17. They need to be named if found guilty. I don’t care about the ages. They killed someone. Fuck their anonymity.

    18. Sad fact is that we’ll likely see an increase in this. Mostly due to:

      – absentee and poor parenting due to both laziness and being overworked
      – feral kids with a multitude of mental health issues
      – kids being fed social media algorithms that glorify violence and “challenges” like this (for example, I heard the other day about a viral TikTok challenge in the US to score as many “points” as possible by kicking dogs during walks)
      – lack of moral compasses in society

    19. strawbebbymilkshake on

Oh, this is the poor gent who (according to his family) had already been attacked by these feral rats and was waiting on surgery for it. He was failed by police that these kids could attack him again

    20. mcdonalds69whore on

I know about this story because I live nearby, and I’m glad another one of the wastes of spaces has been charged because initially it was just one out of the gang. I hope they all have miserable lives.

    21. 12 year old girl and 15 year old boy both total lost causes to society already. If it were up to me I would sincerely lock them up and forget the key. We have enough problems without these psychopaths breathing our air.
“Oh they’re only kids” – yeah you’re right, their parents should join them too.

    22. I had to read the headline multiple times to take it in. Was convinced I was getting it the wrong way around.

    23. Subject-Piglet-9869 on

      Horrendous story.

Why is the boy getting done for murder but the girl for manslaughter?

Anyways, 12 years old is old enough to know right and wrong. This sort of random senseless attack is only committed by the vilest.
      Should be prison for life.

    24. – a 12 year old killed someone with their friends? i predict that they will receive a slap on the wrist and a stiff finger wag as punishment

      – their brain isn’t developed yet you see, so we can’t deny them their future. it isn’t their fault, we can’t punish them or their parents for the choices they willingly made etc.

      – meanwhile, anyone over 25 and using twitter or facebook to comment on current affairs: **’STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM, NOBODY BREAKS THE LAW ON MY WATCH!’**
