    1. Hey, Nige, why not ask him to donate to charities and foundations dedicated to improving the lives of the people of Clacton? Remember them? You’re their MP, I believe.

    2. Black_Fish_Research on

I’m curious whether it’s a donation in favour of reform or if it’s a donation against labour with musk’s war with Starmer.

    3. Anybody know what Elon does for charity ? He has life changing money for millions of people yet I only see him funding politicians flying rockets and furthering his own interests.

    4. Would this would be the Nigel Farage who is against unelected foreigners interfering in British politics?

    5. Maximum-Morning-1261 on

and here is foreign countries influencing UK politics…. so what the difference between this Russia and China ?

    6. FelisCantabrigiensis on

I don’t see “US citizen living in USA” (or Canadian or South African citizen living in the USA) on the list of people and entities a UK political party is permitted to receive donations from: [https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/political-party-donations-and-loans-great-britain/who-can-you-accept-donations-and-loans](https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/political-party-donations-and-loans-great-britain/who-can-you-accept-donations-and-loans)

I.e. this is illegal and the one breaking the law would be Farage.

Not that Mr Farage has a strong record of respect for electoral law.

    7. If Labour or Tories took £100M from a foreign billionaire Nigel would be chill with it because he’s very consistent.
      [Edit: 100M]

Musk isn’t a British citizen, and doesn’t live in Clacton. He needs to mind his own business. Farage needs to represent the people of Clacton, not his own wallet.

    9. Psychological-Ad1264 on

I’m sure the right had something to say about George Soros allegedly funding politics, or is that different?

    10. cantrells_posse on

Great. The richest man in the world can use British politics as his play thing. So glad about that.

£100m is an inconsequential amount of money to him. And for that low low cost he can completely undermine our (already compromised) democratic process. What a time to be alive.

    11. Its stuff like this that really annoys me when people talk about Farage being a ‘patriot’, when really he’s just walking round in Union Jack shoes saying whatever the highest bidder wants him to say, it was Putin, now its going to be Musk.

    12. The crook that constantly bangs on about migrants getting handouts, has gone to a foreign country to potentially receive a huge handout… Pull up your bootstraps and work for that money Nige!

    13. Thetwitchingvoid on

Remember when people lost their shit over a billionaire using their money to influence elections?

    14. How will this be allowed? Musk bought the US Presidency and now looking to do the same in the UK? And us peasants just have to accept what may come from it?

If we do not see protests against this in the future I will give up on us as a nation, sadly.

    15. I believe this will be more common in the years ahead. Our politics seems to be gravitating towards a US model, which I’m not a fan of to say the least. It will will end up in a wider gulf between those who have & those who dont. Whether you see this being a problem or not people from all corners want to influence what’s going on in the UK, some for the better some certainly for the worse

    16. Virtual-Feedback-638 on

So, what is this supposed to mean? Does it mean Farage as PM hopeful fueled by MUSKY who answer to anything is to by hook or crook but that thing? Is UK going to be a financial colony to the USA under a President Musky?

Clacton is dire need of uplftment, and Farage the stirrer best address his constituency matters first or recall hhimself take up American citizenship and piss off to America.

    17. therealhairykrishna on

Farages grift really paying off. I wonder how much of this 100 million quid ends up coming to him personally. Reform is his company after all.

    18. rationalmisanthropy on

If this happens, it’s interventionism and at minimum should be referred to the UN via an official complaint.

At least when the Russians meddle in our internal affairs, they have the decency to do it somewhat covertly.

    19. “Donation” to the business that is Reform Party UK Limited (company number 11694875), where Nige and his millionaire pals will ride this nag until it stops paying out.

Nothing can make my day better than hearing about a rich person throwing money away on trash.

    21. Professional-Bag-216 on

The new/alt/tech right are on the march.
Sticking it to the establishment and all those other rich doners by… Replacing them with other rich doners with even less accountability and even more questionable morals.

Social media is extremely effective to the idiots, especially if they’ve been constantly failed by successive governments.
Who needs to read long paragraphs when you can base life decisions for yourself, a country and even the world with memes – Farage even has his own social media meme guy ffs.

A lot of them are on benefits/disability/social security too which is really funny, that will probably be one of the first things to be cut – same with the Brexit idiots voting to impoverish themselves. Guess if it all hits the fan we can have a little respite watching the idiots get screwed with us.

    22. Looks like are getting sucked into the same oligarch maelstrom that America is in, I hope plenty of us see through the lies . Farage is a snake of the worst kind

    23. His funds must be running low if he’s got his diamond encrusted brass mug out asking for handouts (in both senses of the word mug). How anyone thinks he cares about the UK is beyond reasonable thought. Should be locked up, and that’s being polite.

    24. To me this is practically treason, wanting money off a foreign individual to undermine our government.
