Hr sends half of it to his bank account in Moscow
a popular sign of authoritarian rule and corruption is over expenditure on celebrations
Its ok, 3 million will go into their pockets with 500k left over for the celebrations.
Ye, go ahead, tell people you’re buying them, smart move.
Btw: The approved 2024 consolidated budget for Georgia is ₾27.8 billion ($10.35 billion). This is an increase of 5.2% from the 2023 budget. How much do you think went to improvement of the country or anything related to it?
Finally a Mayor who know what people want
According to their own news, they spend €700k (more than previous years they said). So it’s more than 3x even and it’s the first time they are spending so much.
What is usually going on with shady authorities and their overspending on trivial things like this, is that they would use taxpayers money to buy products from companies that are owned either by their family members, friends, or some party supporters. In that way they get either richer, or more influential, plus they get some petty support from people that fall for those things such as Christmas decorations.
Corruption 101… overspending on infrastructure/events/celebrations is an easy way to line your own pocket
