    1. She uses so many Americanisms she makes my teeth itch. She should move there permanently and stick to guest appearances on batshit podcasts

Can we all just agree to stop giving people like Truss column inches and air time. The absolute cheek of the woman to even dare to try and blame anything/anyone over the sheer disaster of her premiership than herself and Kwarteng is baffling.

The economy didn’t “stagnate”. For everything said about Starmer Labour at least we’re fucking stagnating. It completely fucking crashed. As a direct result of her disastrous reign my mortgage doubled and won’t ever recover.

Imo she did FAR more damage to the Conservative Party’s chances of re-election than Johnson and Sunak did.

If you fuck people over that hard in that short space a time, you deserve to get fucked back.

The Tories and anyone in the right/centre-right would do well to distance themselves from the sheer bullshit that comes out of her mouth.

You can take the scum out of the tories, but you can’t take the tory out of the scum.

Alright everybody, place your bets on who or what Liz Truss is going to blame for the economy crash next time she opens her mouth.

Personally, my money’s on either imported Spanish fruit and veg, or trans people.

    5. Hmm I see Liz that’s very concerning, and is this “The Blob” in the room with us right now?

    6. I am so sorry she suffers from self esteem issues and calls herself the Blob…Lady Lettuce was just fine

    7. As an American who is just old enough to recall the great Reagan recession, and now lives in Britain, let me please remind you all that “supply side economics” was tried in various permutations for about 20 years in the US to no avail.

It doesn’t work, not in the short term, not in the medium term & certainly not in the long term.

And Truss surely knows this. I have no idea what she thought she was doing.

    8. Stagnated? She crashed the entire economy! Where’s the editorial responsibility in publishing these brazen lies?

    9. Private Eye did a great summary of her book as part of their year end review. Definitely worth listening to and scarily not far off her actual take…

    10. Maybe that’s true, but she’s been in politics for a while and she should have grasped the basics that delivery is almost as important as the message. Her interview on triggernometry showed she hadn’t got a clue.

From the article: “I think the Blob describes (something) wider than just the government,”

Ah, there’s the problem, it’s the words “I think” coming from Liz Truss.

No love, you don’t think. Trust us on this, we’ve seen what happens when you *try* to think.

    12. I’m reading a book about her now. I think she is/was clinically insane. So many complete fuck ups made a bit of a shit predicament a fucking disaster. She’s obsessed with “the blob” and the deep state and what not.

However, her intent I.e to try to give the economy a boost and promote significant growth in the UK was a good one. But her execution was probably the worst sequence of events in living memory politically/economically.

She shouldn’t feel empowered to be speaking publicly with any authority about this stuff. She arrogantly and properly fucked it. Without any of the checks and balances we put in place (all of this is what she means when she says “the blob”) to prevent a disaster in the markets.

The mad thing is is that all she needed to do was set out how it was going to be paid for. She flat refused to even have that conversation. Now, we all know that it basically wasn’t possible, but bearing in mind she knew that was all the markets needed it was pretty mad.

What Labour have done recently is on the low end of the scale of the same madness in a sense, but if our public services didn’t get improvements soon, they never will and they would collapse. Someone had to do the difficult thing in a difficult situation. But if we have another round of spending funded by taxes with no initiatives for growth, they will face a similar fate.

    13. Please stop.
We have a pretty clear pattern that giving these traitors time on our feeds only spreads their message and makes them more powerful.

If you rightfully hate the Conservatives for gutting the country like a fish then do your part, promote the many good things labour and the other parties are doing but most importantly, IGNORE THE CONSERVATIVES!

    14. What did the films that were released in 1958 and 1988, and the games in 2008 and 2011 do to you?

    15. Beware of The Blob, it creeps

And leaps and glides and slides
      Across the floor

      Right through the door

      And all around the wall

      A splotch, a blotch

      Be careful of The Blob

    16. CluckingBellend on

Lies. These charlatans never take responsibility, and this is the reason that they are not fit to hold high office.

    17. davestanleylfc on

If you polled the British public on “the blob” what percentage do you think would know what it means?

Outside the Westminster bubble this phrase is literally meaningless

And exactly why the Tory rights attempts to try to land things the American right or reform can just isn’t working

The warning signs for truss were there for ages. The fact she was elected by almost nobody and able to do this shows why our democracy is outdated and wrong. With every speech she shows she’s inept. This week I saw unfunded tax rises mentioned…which shows she was making decisions on stuff she didn’t understand

    19. All are the same…

Why she enjoying benefits of the PM if she chairs she didn’t do anything?

They won’t take that seat because if she loses hers there would be others in line entitled to the same treatment.

    20. Zealousideal_Base_41 on

      Her party rejected her.

      Her constituency rejected her.

      The country rejected her party.

Why can’t she just fuck off already?

    21. I cannot believe we allow clown politicians with horrendous track records any air time at all. Have some shame.

    22. Economy_Judge_5087 on

This is entirely predictable when you understand the psychology behind it.

To even get to be an MP you have to devote pretty much your every waking moment to it from the time you hit puberty onwards.

Once you’re an MP, the struggle goes on, as you have to say the right things and kiss the right arses enough to made a junior minister of some bullshit area you don’t give a toss about and have no experience in.

Then, you have to do a good enough job in that bullshit job to be noticed and given a proper ministerial position. Which you also have to do without putting a foot substantially wrong.

Then, if you’re REALLY LUCKY, the chance might come to run in a leadership election. Then you have to hope that you’ve kissed all the right arses enough to even get on to the ballot.

If you’ve done all that, and you’re very lucky, you get to be party leader.

If you’re unbelievably, lottery-winner lucky, your party is in power at the time, so you get to be PM.

And you have to do all of the above while competing with hundreds of other individuals just as determined and ego-driven as you. And you can’t do that without an absolute, bone-deep belief that you are RIGHT, and that anyone who disagrees with you is WRONG.

All of that happened to Liz Truss.

And she then pissed away a lifetime of hard work and astronomical luck in, quite literally, record time.

So she can only serve herself the biggest slice of denial and cope in history. Because if she doesn’t, she has to face the fact that she destroyed her own entire life’s work deliberately. And then try to rebuild something of value from the wreckage.

Very few people are that psychologically strong. Certainly Truss isn’t.

    23. Truss wrote a tweet complaining about unfunded tax RISES.

We must never let the Tories forget they put her in charge of the country.

    24. The journalist Matthew Paris saw through Liz Truss, long before she became PM…here are a few of his excellent quotes :

      – Liz Truss is a planet sized mass of overconfidence and ambition teetering upon a pinhead of a political brain.

-She’s crackers. It isn’t going to work (about the likelihood of her winning tory leadership vote).

-My first impressions of this candidate are that she was intellectually shallow, her convictions wafer-thin; that she was driven by ambition pure and simple; that her manner was wooden and her ability to communicate convincingly to an electorate wider than the narrow band of Tory activists was virtually non-existent; that she was dangerously impulsive and headstrong, with a self-belief unattended by precaution; and that her leadership of the Conservative Party and our country would be a tragedy for both.

-There’s no more to Truss than meets the eye.

    25. Puzzleheaded_Ad_5710 on

Oh Christ yet more pointing out the problems with zero accountability and solutions. It might be perhaps helpful if they reflected on the legacy of their own parties most beloved icon and how we ended up in this mess.

For decades they’ve pushed people onto disability benefits in the post industrial heartlands to mask the dire unemployment, they’ve never invested in modern industry to revitalise the collapsed local economies reliant on industry. They’ve promised boomers to have there cake and eat it, the biggest recipients of any state support. And imported immigrants to plug any gaps rather than actually tackle reskilling and training. 90% of this is caused by the geographical inequality they caused.

Now your shocked that the public sector is so big. Wtf did you expect- you moved all the jobs to China and made people reliant on the state. It’s the biggest employer because that’s all there is in half the country, we can’t all move to London and work in media and finance.

Where’s your industrial strategy liz? How are you going to get us out of being reliant on the state and stagnation? What’s your plan for the labour market? If I recall correctly you thought unfounded tax cuts would solve the problem and you was brought down by the markets thinking your out of your depth.
