I’m really not sure why they think a slow neutron star is impossible. If there are ways for neutron stars to speed up rotation, then it is it really that big of a jump to discover one that was in the process of slowing down to spin in another direction?

So if I’m understanding this right, it’s less “They shouldn’t be able to do that, wtf” and more “We didn’t know they could do that, wonder what’s up with that”
