    1. Congrats to Blue Origin. This will be the first real competition to Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy (launch mass is in between the two rockets) if they can successfully land the booster on later attempts and they can successfully scale up production rates and maintain quality. Now the wait to see how long it’ll be before the second attempt. Hopefully they can do a second one within the first half of the year.

Too bad about the landing attempt failure on this one though.

Edit: And I’m gonna note here, speaking as a huge fan of SpaceX myself, any true SpaceX fan is happy that this launch was successful. A healthy space industry has multiple players. Even Elon Musk has said several times he wants Blue Origin successful and he tweeted a congratulation of “Congratulations on reaching orbit on the first attempt!” only 15 minutes after they successfully reached orbit. Blue Origin being successful through fair and square methods like this is good for everyone, even for the future of SpaceX as well.

Just think — with everything I’ve bought from Amazon and paid to AWS over the years, a tiny flash of that big roaring flame was paid for by me!
