It would be interesting to compare this to sales of those books in those weeks.
NYT does its best to imply that the position on the list is based on sale numbers, but it’s not. It’s a council that promises it considers sales numbers. That council decides who is on the list.
So if you compared the run on the list to sales numbers during the run, I’m curious if you’d find some books had their run artificially extended or shortened.

What’s the next movie adaptation going to be? Fourth Wing?

I’m not sure I’d recommend a single book on this list…. Maybe GoT.
I consider myself reasonably well read. I read Where the Crawdad’s Sing to see what the fuss was about and even finished it. It was, to be polite, a piece of trash.

I got this data through the NYT API, which is fun to play with. You’re welcome to access it & make a copy through this[ Google Sheet.](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mzl3GcyRxxl6AEzjMJdUxZhOMwsGaoROAod_rg_JC3s/edit?gid=1821465921#gid=1821465921) I analyzed it in detail [here](https://residualthoughts.substack.com/p/which-book-clubs-are-most-powerful), check it out if you’re interested!
