So disregarding the temporary measures, what the government is doing is increasing the amount of hours international students can work?
Are we supposed to celebrate the increased competition for working hours?

Seriously is this some kind of sick joke? So in reality, international students are going to have unlimited working hours from now until September, because THE SCHOOL YEAR IS BASICALLY OVER.
Gotta love how they’re pretending that the “temporary measure” expires tomorrow, yet for the vast majority of students they’ll be on break so they can continue to work full-time. That was always the plan clearly, the liberal government doesn’t give two shits about Canadians.

How about a cap on how many one business can hire. So sick of seeing people getting pushed out of their jobs by having their hours cut as a way to get them to quit so they can fill the void with students

If you come to Canada as a student, you’re supposed to be able to provide for yourself. You aren’t supposed to come here as a source of cheap labour and undermine wage growth for low-skill workers.
I don’t know where people got the idea that coming to Canada to study is some sort of inalienable right that needs to be supported with the right to work here.
I didn’t go to school overseas. You know why? My family couldn’t afford it. And if they could, I certainly would not be working 25 hours a week.

Should be zero off-campus hours and limited to 20 hours on campus. That’ll thin the herd of people who are here to seriously go to school vs those who just want to use the study permit as a work visa

LMAO. They extended the 40 hours again. Let’s remind ourselves this was [originally supposed to end on December 31, 2023](https://www.baytoday.ca/columns/immigration-matters/immigration-7927379), then they [extended the 40 hours to April 30, 2024](https://www.moneysense.ca/save/can-international-students-work-more-than-40-hours-in-canada/) and now they’ve pushed them working 40 hours to September.
