Wow, the price is higher than it’s ever been before. It would also be interesting to see how other food items costed over the last 25 years as well. For example, a loaf of bread, a combo meal from your favorite fast food place, a gallon of milk, etc. It’s amazing how much prices have gone up, not just for eggs, but for food in general. Prices keep rising and wages are staying the same.

I understand that its average price in the US? I thought it would be much more considering the drama around it. A bit over 3 USD doesn’t seem that expensive, especially considering average income in the US.

And apparently it will drop any day now.

Presenting the data as annual points is disingenuous. Your data source (at least on the FRED viewer) had data down to the month.

But I’ve only seen eggs for $13. This can’t be telling the truth.

I wish I was paying $3.17 for 12 large eggs 🙁
I paid $3.74 for 12 medium eggs this week. And it was the last pack of eggs in the store lol

Putting in the per year inflation rate would have been a lot more helpful with this graph to see the real change in price over time.

Its $4-5 a dozen where I live in central NC. Went to ALDIs yesterday and they were still $4.10 a dozen.

Having the y-axis not start at $0 is intentionally deceptive to make the increase look larger than it really is

Also, if your residence allows, raising your own chickens is so much better

Where are you all getting eggs for ~$4/dzn right now!? I live in Vegas and I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure the last dozen I bought here was $7-$9. I’m looking at Wal Mart’s website right now and yes, a dozen large eggs here are $7.42 right now.

This drama about egg prizes is bizarre. Do people eat that many eggs?
I have maybe bought two dozen eggs in the last 3 years. Odd thing to get riled up about.
