I use a hybrid approach.
If I need something straightforward as a wrapper around a code package that I need to work but I don’t care to learn that much because I won’t be touching it again ever, AI can “write” the wrapper functions I need. It will be a crap shoot if it is correct, but it’s at least a start.
If jts something I’m doing custom code for, then sure, I’ll write it from scratch.
But then I remember when syntax highlighting came to be and was such a godsend. As a C student I had an end of comment backwards and the error showed up 4 printed pages down.

As we rely more on AI to help us code, young programmers won’t learn how to solve problems on their own.
When AI tools break down, many of us feel lost and helpless. Should we think about how this will shape the next generation of coders, and what we might lose along the way?
