A day that will go down in legend for the pub and a few lucky punters. I’m betting they make that money back after all this publicity.

Given how much coverage I’ve seen of this story, they’ve had a lot more publicity than you’d expect a venue to be able to get for £1,500!
Drank there a good few times, glad they are getting coverage for it!
They’ll most likely make that back, and more, due to this publicity.
£1500 would be about 100 San Miguel eleven kegs. That would be 880 pints. Seven goals would be 125 people in the bar for all the goals.
Like it says in the article, this is likely £1500 well spent from all the publicity they got out of it.
Which will make the pub more profit? Spending £1500 and getting this free advertising, or spending £1500 on a few Facebook adverts? It’s a no brainer.
Interesting to see where the guardian got the £1,500 from. The landlady & landlord were interviewed on Look North and said it was £1,000. Still. Fair play, they honoured the deal!!
Meanwhile, a Brighton pub landlord who offered a similar deal when Brighton scored is counting their lucky stars.
It’s a lot but promotion that money couldn’t buy. In fact,it was probably cheap!
All the footie crowd will make it ‘their’ local, if it wasn’t already and the epic history of that famous day will echo, writ large in the club’s history.
It might even become a tradition, to have a lucky 7 pints before every match from now on 😀 If I was the landlord I would be ‘encouraging’ that for sure 😀
Imagine going out for quietish night and then feeling obliged to drink an extra seven pints!
My local used to print receipts on your rounds which you’d keep, and the locals would choose a correct score for the 4pm game, and if it came it they’d reimburse everyone ones drink.
