I can’t find it anymore but I was amazed by the photo an astronaut took from the spaceshuttle while doing a spacewalk. A female astronaut was looking out of the window and everything was so crisp and clear without atmosphere.
Oh and the one with the astronaut with the jetpack just hovering over the earth…

    2. Best is subjective but it is my favourite image from space. I have a framed picture of it on the wall.

its one of the best, but they had less power than people thought when they took them and told how they opened their eyes to see earth as not many nations but home for all humanity.

    4. I was a nine year old boy when this photo was taken on Christmas Eve, 1968. It was published shortly afterwards, and carried on all of the network news broadcasts.

It’s difficult today to understand the buzz that this photo caused at the time. Humanity had never seen the like. There had been “artist’s renderings” of what the Earth would look like from space, but it turned out they were all way off the mark. Our planet turned out to be more colorful, detailed, and fragile-looking than anyone had imagined.

Many of the books in my collection have a personal bookplate based on this picture.

    5. Are there any other planets in our system that you’d be able to see this well with the naked eye while standing on the surface of the moon?

    6. You know what, there is no “best”, But here are some space things I like.

      – [Hi-rise takes a photo of the Curiosity Rover floating on a parachute.](https://www.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/673727main_PIA15980-full_full.jpg) – A satellite in orbit around another planet took a photo of a rover floating on a parachute landing on that planet. [And here is a bonus picture](https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/images/pia24270-hirise-captured-perseverance-during-descent-to-mars/) from the same satellite taking a photo of Perseverance.

And instead of pictures, there are videos:

      – [Perseverance Landing Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4czjS9h4Fpg) – High definition video from the landing on a another planet. What isn’t to like?

      – [Mars Helicopter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMnOo2zcjXA) – First powered flight on another planet

      – [The Crab Nebula](https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap230320.html) – the fact you can *see* it expanding over time is amazing. Most photos and images you see of space are so vast and far away that it almost looks like it’s frozen in time. But we forget space is dynamic, and the Crab Nebula iss expanding at over 1000 km per second

      – [Suns/Signal sources orbiting Sag A*.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF8THY5spmo) – Definite proof there is something super massive in the middle of our galaxy, with one signal source orbiting it so fast it reaches 8% of the speed of light. All those moving dots? *stars*
