Is HIV on the rise? Honestly it’s not something I really think about anymore. I am aware it’s a big problem in less developed countries but it seems to get no media focus in the UK for cases within the UK. I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw UK a HIV related news story.

An actual good and positive thing for him to do as a leader. I wish he would do more of this and less squabbling about trans issues and censoring porn.
There’s an actual chance to end transmissions of HIV in our lifetimes in the U.K. at least, if not the world. That’s an amazing possibility, ending the pandemic.

I had a full screening in September for the first time in my life (I was 29) and somehow everything came back all clear but I honestly wish I did it ages ago I was worrying for a long time. It honestly isn’t that bad, I think every adult needs to do this every so often

He 100% tested privately ahead of this. You know, just incase.

Considering HIV negative is a required result to visit a lot of countries, I am sure he is not the first PM to do this.

Is that because he’s so desperate for help that he needs aids?

He might as well take a pregancy test too while he’s at it if he’s really try to inspire the uptake of tests

Did they spill a massive amount of blood into the drinking water or just telling folks to rush the GP and wait for 50 years to get seen ?

In 2025, there are people still thinking HIV is a problem only for sex workers, addicts and gays…even when etherosexuals are the #1 group among new infections.

Very glad to see this level of awareness being brought to this, it’s something that really should be made more available.
I remember when I first went in to get my PREP prescription, this test amazed me – seeing a single drop of blood and a near-immediate result just put into context all of the research and the sacrifice and the loss that has come before me.
When I talk to the straight people in my life about it – PREP, or getting tested, or the existence of things like PEP and the morning-after version of it – I still get surprised looks now and then or have to explain some things, but I think it’s really good that more people, not just the ‘at risk’ populations, know these options are available to them and for free thanks to the NHS.
Similarly I believe it’s not available any more but for a while I was trying to talk any gay I knew into getting the monkeypox vaccine while it was still on the nhs

Everything left wing they do is something that is so widely accepted and popular its barely a story and won’t lose or gain them any popularity, then they do something awful and tory lite and they just lose more popularity. This labour government has been far more disappointing than I could have imagined.

The first PM to _publicly_ take an HIV test.
Boris is surely no stranger to a full screening.

Lots of people have had tests. Shall we all rush out and demand tests and clog up the NHS

Knowing this weird timeline we’re living in, the test will end up showing he’s got HIV and pregnant.
[Definitely worth doing if you are intending to have any sex unprotected these days. It’s not just a gay thing either.](https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/hiv-annual-data-tables/hiv-testing-prep-new-hiv-diagnoses-and-care-outcomes-for-people-accessing-hiv-services-2024-report#new-hiv-diagnoses-1)
