Thoughts?

  1. They publish an article with the same points every few weeks/months. It’s almost like a starter pack for News.

    Must include:

    1. TikToker’s opinion

    2. Couple who have moved away from Sydney

    3. Cozzie Livs statistics

    4. ‘Sydney people aren’t friendly’

“A recent report by the NSW Productivity Commission found that between 2016 and 2021, Sydney lost twice as many people as it gained. While 35,000 people moved to the city, a whopping 70,000 chose to leave.”

Sydney’s population grew by 400 000 during this period. WTF is this article talking about? If people were leaving it would be fantastic as house prices would be falling.

News.com isn’t really credible and their authors are rather basic.

  4. Doesn’t matter. Population is still growing. 7K people leave each year(on average), but NSW records over 90K births each year, a large proportion of which will be in Sydney.

I thought it was because my rent was put up $300 a week so foreign students could move in.

Everyone? And isn’t the population growing? Thoughts are the title and accompanied article are shit.

How is Brisbane both 1% cheaper than sydney and 8% cheaper than Canberra, when Sydney is 1% more expensive than Brisbane and 13% more expensive than Canberra. If they’re saying that the cost of living in Brisbane and Sydney are more or less at parity, how is Brisbane both more and less expensive than Canberra?

Is this a predicable error in a shitty paint-by-numbers news.com article, or has my ability to reason failed me.

As someone living in a large regional centre, I can say that this is not unique to sydney. This is an Australia-wide problem.

People in my town are paying 1.1-1.3 million for basic houses where they also have to deal with youth crime during the night whereby cars are broken into and rocks thrown at windows.

Sydney is so fucking expensive that only the rich can afford to live here well.

Sydney is super rough for normal and average or below income workers.

It’s as sad affair when a normal teacher, nurse and police officer cannot afford to buy here.
