    1. A Ukraine apart of Nato brings us further away from nuclear war.

Former soviet and russian adjacent countries, watching a bastion of western values get walked over is going to make them arm and militarise because if Nato doesn’t step in, they’ll be on their own and end up like Georgia and Maldova

Ukraine needs long term security to be able to rebuild, and that means they need NATO membership or similar security guarantees from as many countries as possible.

Without that, the threat of another Russian invasion will keep investors away after the war, preventing any real economic recovery in Ukraine. These economic issues could very well cause a demographic collapse, seriously weakening Ukraine and make them pretty much bound to collapse if Russia regrouped and invaded again. But with real security guarantees such as NATO membership they can rebuild, and then there’s an actual lasting peace.

There is *no route* to a lasting peace without this.

    3. Who cares what this usless fool thinks. He’s irrelevant. Trump will do what he wants. He’s not going to listen to Starmer.

Keep calm and carry on. Ignore the yanks and break all trade and military connections to them. Start charging them for US bases in the UK. Investigate Musk for interference and publish the results.

Good to see him stand up to Trump. European nations need to unite on this (alongside Canada) and tell that orange twat where to go

European nations, including the UK should form their own defensive alliance, independent of the US. The US is no longer a dependable ally and is already partly on its way to becoming an an enemy of one European nation (Denmark). It should be a “coalition of the willing” and NOT purely EU-based because EU members like Turkey and Hungary, on current showing, would not be dependable allies against threats from Russia. (They could apply to join but membership would have to depend on a clear, sustained and demostrable committment to European defence). France and the UK have nukes, which would lend weight to such an alliance and joint training would ensure a capablity for a combined defence. A combined European defence group would have the funds and capacity to be a major player in this new “great powers” era

    8. Ukraine should never join NATO or EU. NATO because it would be a barrel of powder waiting to explode. EU because they are too corrupt. Some people will not like it, but the truth is sometimes hard on the ears.

    9. I don’t often have much to praise Starmer about, but this is a strong line in the sand and standing up to trumps bullying.

    10. The only real thing Russia wants, is a land route from Russia to the crimera. I reckon give them that. They would stand down.

When you consider that the war is already into its third year, yet the main Western European leaders are still dancing around the issue as opposed to sending ultimatums and real armies to assist Ukraine, you just can’t take anything that they say seriously.

Not to mention that western European countries like the UK have systematically dismantled all manufacturing capacity they have had over the past few decades to the point that even they themselves know they wouldn’t be able to respond even if a NATO member was attacked. At this point it’s pretty much the US that is carrying the entire team.

People love to blame the US, but the reality is that the main Western European powers have failed Ukraine. This has set the precedent that if you don’t have nukes, you have no leverage and are fair game.
