GD has survived this long largely by *not* asking their voters to choose between the West and Russia. Their angle was always to be a dynamic if corrupt polity and play ball with everyone in the region. Openly antagonising the US and EU puts an end to that – you now have to choose if you want GD, or a government that will talk to the West.
Doing this right before the elections is almost incomprehensibly stupid.
