    1. Multiple members of Abdul’s family are also accused of perverting the course of justice by trying to get the girl to drop the allegations.

As an ordinary British man from an ordinary family, never in a million years would my family have my back if I r*ped a child, and they especially wouldn’t then try to intimidate that child for the sake of my career.

Easy to see now why the grooming scandal went on and was enabled for so long.

These allegations could only be imposed on people who are coming from a different mind of culture/countries with poverty. I’d highly doubt a Brit from a decent family rooted in the UK would be found under such allegations, literally just go to London from Essex and see how this place is divided at its neighborhoods by ethnicities. This creeps me out thinking how would things become in, let’s say, 20 years from now.

    3. > It is said he “contacted the father of a 16-year-old complainant of rape and told him to get his daughter to drop the charges against the male alleged to have raped her and get him out of custody, which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice“.

I wonder what would have made him think there was a chance her father would comply with this order.

The justice can only be done if the victim stands her ground. Good on her and her family for not caving in, but I cannot imagine the weight that 16 year old is carrying right now.

I have a strong feeling we are about to have a lot of deleted comments lol…

All I have to say is L’Amour Toujours!

    6. He’s a member of the Aspire Party, the new branding for the Tower Hamlets First Party, who were disbanded after electoral fraud and corruption.

It’s crazy how so many of these cases have family members partaking in the crime, threatening the victim and supporting the rapist in the courtroom.

    8. I’d just encourage people to read the article and read between the lines. In this case – unless I have misunderstood something – the victim and her alleged assailant are both under the age of 18. This is not a case of paedophilia

The Aspire party is gross, anti-British nonsense, but try to not be racist. It’s a Saturday. Take the day off

    9. Saw this, thought “Tower Hamlets?”, opened the link and TA-DA!

That borough has some serious shit it needs to sort out.

    10. Just commenting to remind people that the [only British-Bangladeshi female councillors representing the people of Tower Hamlets are from the Labour and Liberal Democrat parties](https://democracy.towerhamlets.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx). The Aspire party have only male representatives.

edit—actually this is incorrect, looking again at the list of councillors it seems they have a two (out of twenty one) female representatives. Still bad but not quite as bad I had remembered (not sure if this has changed, maybe there has been by-elections or something like that). another edit—seems my memory was correct, Aspire did not have any successful female candidates in the 2022 elections. The only reason they have any female councillors now is because of defections from Labour.

It should be a given in this day and age that political parties will field an equal number of male and female candidates, given that their aim should be to properly represent the people that they would serve. It should also be a given that they field said candidates in a fair manner, not setting “diversity” candidates up to fail by contesting constituencies they are less likely to win. Aspire clearly do not care about proper gender representation in politics, and you can draw from that your own conclusions about their leadership’s wider views about gender equality.

Bad enough dealing with rape only to have the accused family and friends hounding you to drop charges. Then people wonder why assault victims don’t report or speak out. On the plus side this will make the rapist look even more guilty.

Is it a cultural thing when the Queen paid off her nephews victim or does it stop being a cultural thing when they’re white?

    13. Oh, I assumed he was the rapist. It at least made sense that way, of course he’d want them to drop it.

      This is so much worse.
