Looks like mostly middle eastern/ East Asians are denied entry in Georgia. I wonder if Georgians also deny entry to Germans or Spaniards for example. Because many Georgians actually suffer racism in those countries. Ironic.

Could that maybe be more of a religious thing, than a racist motivated? Specially since the sentiment towards Georgia shifted in the neighbouring more muslimic regions?
I’ve heard of and seen people denied entry, but there has always been a solid reason. Insurance, return tickets to another country, sketchy hotel booking etc. U sure everything was OK?

Hmmm Iranians are visa free as long as they have a return ticket? I guess it might be because of Georgia’s relations with said country
Same things happen even in my country, Albania, from the people from the Middle East. I think they just want to stop illegal emigration and may look rude or disrespectful, but is the government rules..we people can’t change it
georgian border polices are weird. when i had flight from georgia to UAE; even i had UAE visa they keep asked me stupid questions. why i go UAE, where i stay there etc etc.
when i arrive to UAE; no police didnt ask anything. im not even georgian btw.
its weird actions for small country. this kind soviet mentality bad for georgian tourism
Typical Georgia
Just for the record, spaniard here, flew to Tbilisi airport on Feb 5th, not a single question by the border agents, not “is it your first time in Georgia”, not “purpose of the travel”, not “how long do you intend to stay”, they asked nothing, I was surprised. Even in the UK, Serbia or Armenia I was questioned more or less thoroughly, but not here. So this is 100% racial profiling and discrimination.
wear high heels and revealing dress – you will receive warmest welcome 😀
Do you have any evidence besides your own observation?
Err I doubt most white people get any form of racism
I visited Georgia in 2024 and I have to say all 3 of us had an equally unpleasant experience with Georgians wherever we went, except for one restaurant.
I understand this is a big statement, but that was simply our experience. Everyone just seemed very tired of everything. So I really don’t understand the increasing popularity of the country as a tourist destination.
Armenia was totally opposite. Everyone was very pleasant. Wanna make that clear before someone says it was our attitude that was the problem.
Edit: I’m really sorry for the racist experience these travelers had. But my comment above is why I’m not really shocked to hear this happen.
Georgians don’t suffer racism in the West
Man, this is horrible. There are a few ways you can try to hold these border guards accountable if they treated you unfairly—and perhaps (legally) reciprocate.
**1. Document Everything**
– Describe your situation in detail.
– Record timestamps and collect all relevant photos.
– Upload photos to cloud storage and include links in your reports.
– Ensure everything you write is factual. The only subjective part should be your personal experience and emotions, which are valid because you are a human being.
**2. File Reports to Le Authorities**
– **Georgian Border Police** (in both Georgian and English).
– **President’s Office** (ideally both Salome Zourabichvili and Mikheil Kavelashvili) in Georgian and English.
– **Your country’s Foreign Relations/Tourism authorities**
**3. International Organizations**
– **IOM** (International Organization for Migration).
– **OHCHR** (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights).
– If you were held in inhumane conditions, report to **UN CAT** (Committee Against Torture).
**4. Legal Action…**
– If you seek moral compensation, consider filing a case with the **ECHR** (European Court of Human Rights).
– While you can do this solo, getting legal assistance makes it significantly easier.
And finally try telling the story to all news:
– International: Euronews, BBC, Reuters, The Guardian.
– Local: Formula News, Civil.ge, Radio Freedom/Liberty (Georgia).
I tell you, “they” gonna fucking find them after this
:)))). Racism and xenophobia should not be tolerated.
Bruh, if you don’t like this country just leave, we’re not gonna beg you to stay here trust me
Racists in Georgia. Go figure.
Spain is racist towards Georgian?
This is happening for a long time and i don‘t know why those affected dont escalate it to their embassies and make a big deal about it.
Happend to Central Asian friends of mine. Police told them to fly back to Istanbul and try again next day. They did, and it worked.
After googling i found out that police try to fight illegal prostitution (especially from central asia) and terrorism/illegal migration (from East Asia).
But anyway, their modus operandi is harsh, arbitrary and should be investigated.
German – the only question I get when I arrive is what flight I arrived on.
They didn’t do this before so why now ? did something happen recently to prompt this ? If tourism declines because of this it will hurt the country more than anyone else so WTF is the point of doing this, who is the winner here ?
After government change they all got weird at the airport. I saw some nasty arguments, skirmishes at the airport security checks recently, which escalated to police.
