This is a chaotically stupid piece of analysis from Policy Exchange.
I agree that Islamophobia was weaponised as an accusation by bad actors to defend Muslims who committed awful crimes. Having an agreed definition of Islamophobia would be what you’d need to prevent this sort of thing
Just so, if we had an agreed definition of antisemitism then we wouldn’t see allegations of antisemitism being used to defend Israel killing children. And if we had an agreed definition of racism more broadly we wouldn’t have bad actors claiming racism when there simply isn’t any

I don’t think this surprises anyone who has two braincells and a pair of eyes.

This is going to be a bombshell in here.
There are a bunch of extremely dedicated posters on here who are *passionately obsessed* with denying the fact that fears of being accused of racism played into the grooming gangs cover up.
They get absolutely apoplectic whenever it’s brought up. They will insist that it was police misogyny, and hatred of the working class *and nothing else*. They simply can’t comprehend that there were multiple causes to the cover up. Incidentally, I have never once seen anyone deny that misogyny and class prejudice also played a role.
But they can’t allow for the racism angle to appear at all. Their entire worldview hinges on denying this obvious fact. Because if people are wary of being accused of racism, then that would suggest that modern Britain *isn’t* a white supremacist country. It’s hard to argue that Britain is the most racist country in the world if the majority race are so easily cowed by accusations of racism.
The cherry on the top always comes when the denialists inevitably accuse the person speaking up of being a racist. “Oh, so you think accusations of racism played into the cover up? Only a racist would think that! Look at this racist, everyone! You better not agree with them on this, or that makes you a racist too!”

The point though is that this wasn’t the only factor. People like to make it out as though the only reason nothing was done was “fear of racism”, when that’s not the case.

Has nobody considered that the notoriously racist and authoritarian police forces might be making allusions to ‘not wanting to seem racist’ or ‘being woke’ as cover for the fact they are shit at their jobs and were asleep at the wheel?
Since when have the police ever been worried about looking racist? Seems very convenient and self serving that all of a sudden they are crippled by it and desperately need to be allowed to take their gloves off.
Just do your fucking jobs.

It has been going on for decades.
How well can the UK government censor politically embarrassing information like this when the US big tech now ignores their calls for censorship?
