“Patience is wearing thin” – is it? Seems like we are still at the “moan about it” stage. I don’t see much evidence of any widespread action being taken, unfortunately.

    2. The cash cow of Europe. It’s Stockholm syndrome and when people actually speak out we actually get fellow citizens shitting on them. We are an absolute pathetic laughing stock.

    3. The conservatives reduced energy costs a couple of years ago with this as the expected outcomes? They literally said the costs would increase more due to the reductions they put in place.

    4. Half right. UK is one of the cheapest countries in Europe for gas but the reverse for electricity.

    5. If energy companies in the UK record record excess profits two weeks ago you don’t need to raise bills again the next month as it’s clearly a scam .

    6. People just complain online (myself included) but you’d think with having so many platforms to get voices out, we’d see more uproar/action. But where would you even start?! I’ve got genuine anxiety with the way things are going. The future looks bleak. How can people get ahead!? Do people even manage to save anymore?! My household has 2 OKish wages coming in and we just about pay our bills and save ‘some’ if we’re lucky. We’re being rinsed. When is it going to give?!

    7. Energy prices are not the problem, the UK suffers from wage suppression. We have had over 25 years of slow wage growth while prices of energy and houses and cars have risen. The only wages that rise are minimum wage and MP wage, the rest of us are worse off than we were in the year 2000

Put energy back into public ownership. Supply domestic customers at cost. No profits to shareholders or bonuses to executives. Do not charge domestic customers VAT. Fuel and power are essentials for life—the same with water. Taxation, profiteering, and exploitation of utilities that aren’t optional is immoral. No one should be taxed for trying to keep warm.

    9. What can we do? Organise a mass “we won’t pay” strike? It would only work if everyone did it at the same time they can’t get 60 million entry orders to slap prepayment meters on us all.

      We chose this.

We bought into the net zero stupidity and the anti-nuclear stupidity.

Stupidity upon stupidity and then people wonder why everything is fucked?

I wish we could have the LNG facilities in Eastern Canada to supply you guys; but we hitched our energy wagon to a horse of a different colour.

    12. They always say the company’s only operate on small profits of 2% but we are paying the wages of all the staff and directors they employ and the shareholders dividends We pay for the sales and marketing teams, advertising, customer service, office supplies and all the rest. Yes we would still need those if it was just one government supplier but far less people would be needed. It creates jobs for sure by having so many energy companies but we all pay the price indirectly.

    13. The Ukraine war coming to an end and large amounts of new LNG export capacity coming on line in the USA and Qatar over the next few years means Labour should meet their £300 cheaper pledge by the next election regardless of any of their own policies.

    14. Successive governments really fucked us by not investing in nuclear and now we all pay the price for their short term fuckwitted thinking.

The problem, at least partially, is that whilst everyone wants cheaper energy, far fewer people accept the need for transmission lines / generation plants etc being built on their doorsteps and MPs are a spineless pathetic bunch (not necessarily all of them) who are much more worried about shouting about a solar farm than explaining to their constituents why we are all going to have make accomodations to achieve net zero…

    16. But “pRiCe is SeT bY ThE MaRkeT”

Well what fucking market are the Europeans on, so we can get on that one, because this one fucking sucks. Energy prices are simply ridiculous and on top of being ridiculous, they’re *always rising*.

      >votes for net zero
      >’why is my energy expensive’

It’s actually funny at this point

    18. BinThereRedThat on

Guys I keep complaining about the price going up so why isn’t it going down. How much complaining do I gots ta do!

    19. Aggressive_Plates on

I read they were the highest in the world. especially the industrial electricity cost.

This is what happens when politicians replace engineers in your electricity generation

    20. The standing charge is what gets me, I live by myself and am at work most of the time. The majority of my bill is the standing charge which keeps going up.

    21. Is it wearing thin? If it’s nothing to do with immigration British will put up with any and everything

    22. Yes, patience is wearing very thin indeed

Just you wait, someone might just let out a very loud sigh if the energy companies aren’t careful!!!!

      What will they do then!?

    23. ImTalkingGibberish on

Zero maintenance > Record profits > Raise the bills.

But if we don’t pay the bill then we are on the wrong side of the law.
      Nationalise public services.

    24. Once again absolutely own goal for Labour, if starmer had a press conference, saying he’s instructing ofgem to reduce prices, that the engery sectors gravy chain for ripping of the British public is ending today, would be a instant boost for him and instant boost for everyone in the country
