    1. Well yeah, the water now comes with its own nutrition facts label because of how much figurative and literal shit is in it.

      Warning: may contain nuts.

    2. Thames water CEO Chris Weston’s renumeration package:

      Base salary: £850,000
      Pension: £102,000 per year
      Car allowance: £15,000 per year
Bonus: Up to 156% of his salary

How many people’s water bill goes only towards this, genuinely disgusting that water companies aren’t nationalised.

It’s not like you can change water supplier

Mine’s up £300 on last year, at this point my best hope is that they fuck up the water supply so spectacularly that they have to pay us all compensation like they did last year.

    4. Who could have known privatising a company with no competition, and providing a service so vital it could never be allowed to fail would end in high prices and poor service?

    5. Mine went up from £30 to over £40 a month! Rang them and told them on ESA and disability benefits so it’s too much and they have a scheme where certain people are eligible for 50% discount if you’re on low income and luckily I’ve qualified so I now only have to pay around £21.

Fine into oblivion, nationalise without compensation, pursue criminal prosecution for chronically lawbreaking CEOs.

Nationalising water was an awful decision from the start, it’s too bad Labour are too ideologically committed to the free market + too cowardly to reverse this grave wrong.

    7. I’m in North East my bill was £16 per month now it’s £19 but I have a water meter and live alone so pay for what I use before meter I was paying £38 per month.

    8. You can moan all you like but you still will not be paying as much as South West Waters’ bills!
Poorest area of England has had the highest water bills for years!

    9. No. No they were not shocked. Every interaction with Thames Water has been about how they put their shareholders and bonuses first and their repeated intentions to increase bills massively.

    10. I’m doing my small part to protest by flushing wet wipes. Join me, once they become overwhelemed with fatbergs, they’ll have no choice but to succumb.

    11. One person living in a flat, no leaks, barely in my flat, wanting to charge me 60 a month, beyond a joke

    12. They neglected the water infrastructure for decades and using the rot to justify giving themselves bigger bonuses. They have no incentives to fix anything properly if it’s always a scape goat to increase prices. Ofwat is useless.
