This is getting kind of ridiculous now. The prototype Boeing capsule that took them there didn’t work right so they couldn’t take it home. So, they extended their mission knowing they’d go home on a SpaceX capsule (or in an emergency, the docked Soyuz capsule). They’re not exactly stuck. That was widely publicized at the time. How is this now political?

Um, yes, *totally* politics is playing into this. For the record, I didn’t bother to read the article (edit: now I have and it’s a nothing burger) but Nikki Haley was cash poor back in the 2017 era and went to work for Boeing. Around that time, they chopped heads, gutted safety personnel, began using lower quality parts, etc. She got her millionish bucks and saved her parents house (if I recall correctly) but Boeing was never the same. Their engineers and whistle blowers began getting silenced; a couple even committed “suicide.” Space-X has been wanting all the Boeing contracts for *years* so I have LITTLE DOUBT IN MY MIND that all it took was a tiny smattering of corporate sabotage and, voila, Boeing lost all credibility for the foreseeable future. Keep in mind that the Boeing capsule reentered the atmosphere safely, landed safely, and the astronauts 100% could have been brought home on time but Elon got a lot of public fanfare for being the astronauts’ savior, even though they are very much still in space and could very well burn up when they return.

Privatization of what-should-remain-public-services has been the Republican wet dream for decades now.

WE CAN’T AFFORD IT and it’s why our fucking national debt has ballooned. We are not paying government employees too much. We are paying too many yacht boy shareholders who aren’t doing a damned thing for the American people TOO FUCKING MUCH. They don’t care about safety or longevity. All they care about are short term profits. Late stage capitalism fail.

“From my standpoint” gimme a break. I highly doubt they can see from up there.

  4. Well, we’ll see if Elon is now going to call one of the literal astronauts involved in this a liar. Got the popcorn ready

Do astronauts NOT want to be in space? I would think that being “stuck” there would be super cool for them. I bet they get to play with like all of their food.
