Leave the ‘special relationship’. Remove the US air bases. Absolutely do not let him into the country, and especially don’t validate him with a vist to Buckingham palace. Do not deal with the dictator at all. Simple really.. Starmer fawning over him is typical Labour behaviour, but he needs to protect the UK from the fallout by being a actual leader and standing up to him, Putin’s puppet. Also – There WILL NOT BE A WAR! No need Putin runs the US now anyway, DO NOT SPEND MORE MONEY ON WEAPONS. it’s just to take up the slack where the US is pulling back on Mil spending to give the super rich more tax breaks.

The fact that America elected Trump in the first place is enough that no one should be looking to them for leadership/support/anything. Its a broken country.

You can easily see now how Brexit fitted in with the overall Putin strategy.
There’ll be studies about how effective Russia has been at this over the last 20 years, it’s pretty remarkable.
Edit: not saying that people didn’t have concerns over the EU, but we know that Russia funded a lot of the leave campaign, and had (and have) a very useful mouthpiece in Nigel ‘Russia Today’ Farage.

Remember that Trump is just getting started too. He is not even in third gear based on what he said the other day; what we are seeing now is just the beginning of sweeping changes for the US, both domestically and internationally. The reality is that we currently have the best relationship with the US right now, but it will only go downhill as the year goes on. Only an idiot would think our relationship with the US could improve from this point on.

The only special relationship that America has repeatedly acted upon is with Israel.
It’s way way past time that the UK realised that there are actual partners with similar interests, ethics and morality closer to us.

Anyone who bothered to listen and take seriously what the Tea Party movement (the predecessor to MAGA) leaders from 2008 were saying would have seen this coming.
After McCain’s defeat in 2008, there was a backlash against the interventionist, neoconservative foreign policy in the American right especially given the quagmire of Afghanistan and Iraq, and a growing rejection of the idea of America being the world’s police. Obama pivoted American foreign policy towards the Pacific (remember his infamous put down of Romney when the latter said the biggest geopolitical threat was Russia?).
Trump is just the orange manifestation of that isolationist reaction to neoconservatives in the American right. Yes he’s speed running the changes but Europe should have seen this coming and been prepared for the US retreat from Europe

I don’t pretend to have a politico mind but the recent events, in my view at least, have proven not so much a “special relationship” but a desperate dependence on the US. This ally is no longer reliable and Europe would do good to build its power to counterbalance that of other major players. It’s sad to see our great leaders pandering to the Diaper Tangerine.

America has very clearly decided its SO smart, big, and clever that it no longer needs friends. Let them go.

We really need to be acting like the US is now an active enemy of European security, not just an unreliable ally. Rearming and re-industrialising with Europe and breaking ties with the US.
What Trump is trying to do to Ukraine he will try to do to us if that time comes. He will also try to deceive and string us along as long as possible. Hope Starmer realises this and sees through it all.

I am pleased that we won’t be supporting them on their next pointless war. They can sacrifice their own children to another pointless ideological war.

Starting to hear that an American is trying to(has?) bought Nordstream2 and under the supervision of America planning to sell Russian gas to Europe. Mates rates of course!!

Just wait for it.
Trump will disable the Trident missiles and the F-35’s of the UK to force the UK to abandon Ukraine. Before he will do absolutely everything to get Nigel Farage into office as next PM.
Just wait for it. It’s just a matter of time now.
He doesn’t care what anyone outside outside of Moscow wants…he will do exactly what Moscow wants from him.
