Webb wows with incredible detail in actively forming star system

Webb is so fantastic. Not trying to be political here, so please don’t take it that direction, just asking what I think is a legitimate question: what happens if they drastically slash or even almost eliminate NASA’s budget? Do they just turn out the lights and that’s it? What happens to the telescope? They couldn’t just give it to Musk (SpaceX) could they?
