  1. A “conservative” will look at this graph and accuse moderates of really being liberals. That is to say, the real lesson to be learned here will not be learned.

  2. Reddit used to looooove Tesla. So interesting to see how politics changes perceptions.

  3. totallyenthused on

Ironic since, demographically, most conservatives can’t afford a Tesla. Impression doesn’t equal sales. Just perception that aligns with their ignorant worldview.

Maybe overall this is a good thing. Liberals are already more sold on the idea of an electric car. Conservatives will start buying more of them out of fealty to President Musk. Tesla goes bankrupt (hopefully) but by then the electric car (of any brand) is more popular on both sides of the political spectrum.

  5. Hilarious to see right-wingers in a short few years go from
“we need to ban electric vehicles! Block the chargers with your diesel trucks!”
    to
    “Elon is my other daddy.”

Remember when Reddit loved Elon with a burning passion ten years ago? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Does this mean liberals will stop pretending EVs are the solution to climate change just because they don’t want to give up their car?

  8. We’re at the point I thought we’d only reach in poorly written satire where conservatives see someone throwing a Nazi salute and like them *more*.

  9. I’m convinced that conservatives are the dumbest life forms on earth. They’re anti-climate change, religious, flatearthers, racist, homophobic, fanatics… Basically everything that’s wrong in current human society.

Interesting to see a spike in interest from conservatives after the Nazi salutes

I’m sorry, but I doubt they are liberal and still have a positive opinion of Tesla…. Maybe they are one of those classical Liberals like Dave Rubin.

  12. Why would liberals have a growing impression during the end of the campaign, elections, all the way up until the inauguration?

  13. Now also show a graph of who goes on X for their main “news” outlet and who goes elsewhere.

Mind boggling that people think a social media platform, with an algorithm to drive engagement (with clear and blatant bias), also owned by a billionaire trying to completely overhaul our government, is a CREDIBLE source for info.

No fact checking, character limit, etc. Couldn’t possibly be a perfect platform for propaganda!

  14. Conservatives in this case really only see Elon switching sides as owning the libs. They’re not rushing out to buy Teslas or buy Starlink (unless they have a need for it).

Moderates and Liberals in this case tend to identify Elon for the contributions he’s made over time and tend to see this possibly drug fueled descent into opinion making as self indulgent, self-destructive actions of a rich and possibly broken dude. Almost all those guys (Musk, Gabe Newell, etc.,) are going to politically identify as more historically libertarian. It’s the switch to authoritarian/social conservatism that’s shocking.

This is showing how bad it is for Tesla as the only group that seems to have a good impression is also the group LEAST likely to buy any BEV so great job Musk you are killing your brand as all your main buyers are quickly saying FU.

  16. Interesting, this graph looks just like the UMich inflation expectations just released…

But of course rising among conservatives because they support their home team, unlike, say Chuck Schumer and friends.

Conservatives: Well I don’t agree with the whole “better for the environment” ethos.
But I do like his Nazi affiliation

  19. It’s hilarious when you realize it’s the light blue line that used to form their core customer base.
