    1. This will never end until the refugee system gets a total reshuffle as currently it is not serving its purpose but instead used for human trafficking and illegal immigration.

    2. haphazard_chore on

Leave the UN refugee convention and the ECHR and start refoulment. No more indefinite leave to remain unless they are skilled and there is a shortage.

Anyone who has committed a crime should have their ILR revoked, asylum case denied, and deported.

We are very quickly turning into a low trust society and the social fabric of this country is ripping before our eyes. People also forget, what these illegal immigrants are doing is a slap to the face to the LEGAL immigrants who worked hard to get to that British citizenship ceremony.

    4. Labour really needs to fix this or we’ll end up with the most right wing government we’ve ever had

    5. r/RejoinEU so that we can go back to having a safe and legal mechanism for returning asylum seekers. After brexit we have now become an asylum haven separated from Europe, number 1 destination and a incredibly dangerous journey in freezing waters. We could just undo all this madness and stick it to putin at the same time by rejoining. The boat crossings would stop overnight if they think they are just going to be sent back to france.

    6. Does this sub post anything other than stories designed to rile people up?

This is like the third negative story on Uk immigration I’ve seen on less than an hour.

We need a completely new approach to immigration and asylum. The current system is a complete mess.

For legal immigration, low skilled workers should only be in the UK _temporarily_ to fulfil labour shortages, letting low skilled migrants stay into pension welfare dependency just makes no sense economically. And we should only give ILR and citizenship to exemplary, high-skilled migrants who are going to be a net fiscal contributer.

We need far better quality data and analysis on the long-term fiscal impacts of migration, our understanding of who is and isn’t a net contributor is currently just speculative.

For asylum we should **only** be giving refugee status to asylum seekers taken directly from UN refugee camps. This means we can take in vetted refugees from a range of refugee camps across the world and means we can ensure they are all legitimate refugees.

    8. AdmiralMaximus on

Illegals should be immediately deported no questions asked unless they have proof of legitimate asylum. If labour doesn’t do something we will end up with a polar opposite.

It’s like the government has forgotten the meaning of “illegal” when did giving them housing and sponsoring their lives become punishment for breaking the law? In russia you get 10 years in Siberia.

    9. LonelyStranger8467 on

“Ebid, who has a previous conviction in Italy for the attempted importation of over a tonne of cannabis, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration.”

      lol

Immigration, especially irregular migration will continue to increase. Everyone is familiar with the term chain migration. Well it’s not just sponsoring visas. It’s using UK earned income to pay smugglers for other family members. It’s starting smuggling rings after coming here. It’s giving advice on where to go, what to say and how to be successful and have the best result.

It’s not just small boats, people are allowed to board planes they shouldn’t with fake passports or corruption at the outgoing airport. People come on visit visas, student visas and work visas. Thousands claim asylum at Heathrow and Manchester.

    10. Of course he did. Why wouldn’t you. There aren’t any consequences what’s the deterrent not too ? I’m not even going to read the article but I imagine he/they are allowed to remain in the country.

    11. Informal_Drawing on

Follow the trail of money as always.

Thousands of people on 2 boats are not small boats, that’s industrial-scale people moving.

    12. MeasurementTall8677 on

It’s insane, if the politicians government, lawyers & bureaucrats didn’t all live in north London or Richmond & were exposed to the consequences they’d have us out of the ECHR & the boats turned around straight away

Its only March, my guess there will be 200, 000 illegal boat arrivals by October.

The UK will never produce a Trump administration willing to take on mass deportations, as most of these migrants appear to be low or no skilled young men, it’s a recipe for social disaster.
Due to incredible numbers there is no hope of any assimilation or integration

Both Tories & Labour have done this, it’s the tragic destruction of a culture by the political class

    13. Capital-Wolverine532 on

And he probably won’t be deported. It’s pointless even prosecuting any illegal immigrant as they are let off deportation by activist tribunal judges

    14. tandemxylophone on

I remember the times this sub used to believe in the idealised solution of processing migrants once they get in the country when the Syrian refugee crisis started. They were so angry at the (right wing) Italian boats stopping boats arriving, citing “They may jump and drown”.

The problem with refugee application is that we are dealing with someone who doesn’t have any documents. You are either going to get false positives or false negatives. The people that wanted a system that accepted all unknowns as refugees are now seeing the swathe of fake refugees that don’t make effort to culturally integrate. The only way this can be fixed if we place the refugees in a country with similar culture, which would massively cut down of the fakes.

Imagine coming here illegally and being able to afford to live in London, dude must be living the fucking dream most jobs barely pay you enough to live in the town it’s based it, you’re even more hard pressed to live in a city

    16. GreenFuel7454 on

Give them everything when they come illegally, they txt their m8s and then they come.
It’s not going to stop .
All it needs is for a few boats to be turned around then it will stop.

    17. Jolly_Constant_4913 on

Makes me laugh for sure. Even ethnic minorities are getting fed up. Industries are saturated that have foreign descent labour

    18. Delicious-Program-50 on

If the government really wanted it to stop, they’d stop it. I just have no idea why they have allowed this and on this scale too. I can only imagine it is a ploy to upset their own people and force them to react by leaving the UK. The mind seriously boggles.
