Pathetic these laws need changing and these judges could probably do with sacking. Far too many bleeding hearts keeping idiots like this in the UK to the benefit of absolutely no one except the criminal.

    2. At least it’s not as bad as the paedophile who wasn’t deported because it would be unfair for his children.

I’ve no issues with the wife and kids being able to stay if they want (assuming they’re even immigrants), who aren’t at fault for his sins but this guy should be on a plane. It’s then up to the wife how much she cares about being with him, over her and her kids healthcare, hardly a positive role model for their kids.

    4. The government do request deportations for criminals all the time, its the judges that get to over rule those requests and allow criminals to flourish.

What does someone actually have to do in order to get deported? I wouldn’t be surprised to read about a criminal openly selling class A drugs whilst holding a loaded firearm in full view of the police getting let off because they wouldn’t receive treatment for their broken toe in their home country.

Perhaps that should have been part of his risk analysis when deciding to commit a crime.

      Judge is a moron

He’s being deported not his British wife and kids they’re free to stay and be treated under the NHS

If she chooses to go to Nigeria with her deadbeat criminal husband thats her choice

    7. haphazard_chore on

Ridiculous, this criminal should be deported. Yet another example of our bleeding heart bullshit policies whilst economic and criminal migrants walk all over us.

I feel like the UK is a category D prison for people from other countries and we’re all working as correctional officers.

Pisses me off no end as I’ve gone by the book with my Thai missus and son, paying a small fortune on Visa fees and health surcharge. seems like they should have just come here on a cheap visitor visa, overstayed, committed a crime and the gov will let them stay 🤣

I’m confused, why can’t he be deported but his wife and kids stay here?

    11. Daily mail = utter horseshit. Yet again an opinion piece not factual allowed in this sub. There is a reason the daily mail isnt an accepted source on wikipedia

    12. It’s worth noting that his deportation order (and revocation of his citizenship) didn’t come till *8* years , which happened 11 ? years ago. During which time he got married and had kids. I’m all for deporting foreign born criminals but I’d kind of be curious as to whether he changed his life as well as got married over that time. I mean if he offended 11 years ago , turned his life around and hasn’t been in any trouble since etc then I feel it’s somewhat less outrage worthy.

Wow now that sets a precedent,

You can stay in this country if you require healthcare

    14. BountyBobIsBack on

Law should be bought in that the victim takes presidence over the perpetrator feelings etc, once proof of guilt is established in a court of law.

Hmmm when are the government going to wake up and just send people like this back from where they came from, too much woke in the uk

This is why the NHS is in trouble

    16. KilmarnockDave on

He should have thought about that before committing fraud then shouldn’t he.

    17. ChocolateLeibniz on

It seems pretty much impossible to be deported. People can just bring their own laws with them, nice.

As long as my hard earned taxes go towards looking after him and his family that’ll keep me happy. Being liberal is great

      Daily mail article.

Only reports on black people negatively.

      Don’t trust it.

    20. Another too slow to deport case. If they had gone through the process when he was convicted…but alas we love a good but of austerity and back logs to go with it.

    21. Nights_Harvest on

So in order for them to have nhs care, he can walk free…

How is this to the benefit of society?

      Madness

    22. (I shouldn’t make fun of you because it’s not much better in France, but still…)

Don’t forget that’s how Trump got elected folks !

    23. Reddit_Account_69771 on

Oh for goodness sake. It’s not because HE needs medical care. His wife and kids do. No idea what their issues are but it wouldn’t be fair to deprive people who had nothing to do with the crime of care they need. Correct decision

    24. This is clearly more nuanced than immigrant bad must be deported. The man did his jail time for his crime in 2014. 18 years later the Home office has got to his case and has decided to deport him, by which time he has lived his life married a British lady and takes care of his British kids with disabilities.

Sending him back now would be detrimental to the kids and a burden on the NHS as he is the primary carer. He took the decision to court where the law was applied and the judge ruled in his favour.

As usual a nuanced situation that the daily mail summaries into a headline designed to provoke outrage. Redditors then take the bait and scream immigrant bad immigrant go home.

Yes we have an immigration problem but this kind of headline just breeds hatred, what is the point.

Does anyone remember that British guy who proposed to his Chinese girlfriend in her native language in a viral TikTok? They made a video recently that she was allowed to stay in the UK with a graduate visa, but they were really worried she wouldn’t be able to once it expired because of the high salary threshold required. She only met the threshold because her TikToks started to go viral and she made enough money as an influencer, but many graduates wouldn’t be able to meet that.

It’s such an unfair and cruel process, and seeing cases like this all the time really must feel like a slap in the face to those having to go through it

At this point I don’t care if I am being manipulated by rightwing media – the fact is, if crazy shit like this didn’t happen then the press would have nothing to rile us workers up with. Is this worse than billionaires avoiding taxes or shafting us?

Another waste of space kept here at our expense – the country is soft as ****
