She’s not a danger to the public and this is a solid point “”Many more risky individuals are walking free as a result of Labour’s emergency mass release legislation.”

    2. I dont think any prisoners should be given temporary release, or early release.

Do the crime do the time

    3. JustLetItAllBurn on

Anyone who lived through the 2011 riots knows you don’t fuck around when comes to participating in or inciting riots. There were two dudes in 2011 who got 4 years for inciting on social media, so this isn’t a new thing.

“Connolly, 42, wrote on social media: “Mass deportation now, set fire to all f****** hotels full of the b******* for all I care…”

She continued: “If that makes me racist, so be it.”

Wow. Supposed civilised adults writing shit like that. I pity her kid.

    5. > “Mass deportation now, set fire to all f****** hotels full of the b******* for all I care…”

What is the world coming to when you can’t call for the horrific deaths of men, women and children without being thrown in jail. Churchill would be spinning in his grave, he didn’t fight for freedom against the Nazis for this.

    6. Appropriate_Tell6746 on

Its people making comments like she did on places like twitter/facebook normalising this kind of behaviour and dehumanising certain parts of society. They need to face consequences. How many times has the same story been posted here and facebook and the facebook one is just full of vile racist comments thats normalised on that platform.

    7. People on this sub are so hypocritical.

Any time there is a dumb article related to arrests for online abuse/racism, the most upvoted comments are always ‘don’t the police have better things to do’. And more recently there’s been some weird uptrend in saying arrests like that are against freedom of speech and are leading to a fascist state.

Now a councillors wife does it, no-one seems to mention either of these issues they so vehemently claim otherwise.

She should of committed an actual crime if she wanted to avoid prison time. Rookie

    9. After-Dentist-2480 on

She incited arson and killing people. She was unashamed of doing it.
I doubt her views have changed or that she would be shy of repeating her hate message.

    10. all_about_that_ace on

Personally looking at the quote I can’t decide if I think it’s incitement to violence, or just a stupid, racist, hyperbolic comment. It’s right on the line to me.

    11. Significant_Glove274 on

I remember around the time she was jailed that the courts didn’t lock up a guy in Oxford who was distributing large amounts of child porn.

      Priorities.

    12. DevilsAdvocate8008 on

She is going to get a harsher punishment than many rapist, stabbers, arsonists and rioters

    13. ReasonableWill4028 on

But people who run over others at 3x the speed limit or 3x the legal BAC get 6 months or less and sometimes just a suspended sentence

She should just run over a few of them and she would have got a month max.

Labour MP arrested for child porn “MP”

Tory councillor arrested for tweets “Tory wife”

      Subtle press, subtle.

    15. This case is going cause Starmer serious grief.

You’ve got Labour politicians up to their necks in nonce offences, others who called for people to be executed and were given bail.

Everyone knows its a two teir justice system. We see it weekly now.

    16. It wasn’t just a racist tweet, she incited violence, specifically setting fire to hotels.

    17. claude_greengrass on

Right wingers sudden concern for prisoners welfare when it’s one of their own is always funny. Almost like they expect two tier justice 🤪

    18. GiftedGeordie on

Can’t wait for the far right to be like **”THE WOKE LEFT LIBERALS ARE CENSORING OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH! THIS IS FASCISM!”** don’t get me wrong, there are some genuinely troubling authoritarian things happening in the UK, but this isn’t one of them.

    19. Last_Gift3597 on

lmfao at brit bongs. You will arrest people for mean words but turn a blind eye at rape, knife violence, grooming gangs, human trafficking, and literally anything that actually harms people. You guys all voted for this though, so honestly you just get what you deserve.

    20. Healthy_Art5436 on

It’s funny the correlation between the people who say “if you don’t like our laws leave” and the people who vehemently defend this person.

    21. AnalThermometer on

She pled guilty. Labour councillor Ricky Jones took the right option in not pleading guilty. There was considerable pressure and prejudice put on the accused to plead due to threats from Starmer about charging anyone involved by any means necessary, including possible terror legislation. But by the time the courts get around to processing the backlog the impetus for harsh sentences now has dissipated.

    22. If you are rioting you are rejecting not just society but your participation in the grand law and order of our country; basically – fuck around find out. Tory councillor’s wife is in the finding out stage.

    23. commonsense-innit on

her arrogance and blue outright lies cost southport and uk government millions to clean up the mess after the riots

she wasted and tied up legal, police, social services, court time and prisons with her stupidity.

she should also be fined her net worth plus one million or be punished with 20 more years in prison

    24. wimpsjourney on

The prisons are full and violent men walk free while a woman who incited violence, her first offence, goes to jail for years.

And there are countless fools who see no wrong here. Though I bet you express shock when yet another repeat sex offender nonce gets a suspended sentence.

This country deserves what is happening to it.

    25. Plane-Physics2653 on

The riots were personally a difficult time for me, and my family spent weeks looking over our shoulders. But she must be given whatever relief she qualifies for. It’s the right thing to do-the interests of her child and the family more generally must be paramount. We can’t turn into the mean society some people want us to be.

    26. The treatment of the Southport social media posters will have the same affect as the treatment of the January 6th ‘rioters’, this won’t end well.

    27. So they’ll lock up people who message that they hate certain cultures invading and attacking people

But when it’s done in reverse like the rape gangs, they get let off and barely serve a sentence
