      > The airline said crew “called ahead for police assistance after a passenger became disruptive”. But Ann-Marie said: “I wasn’t disruptive. There were no raised voices.

I’d be very curious to hear the accounts from the other passengers sitting nearby.

I’ve been on flights before where I’ve seen the card machine playing up for people or what have you, and the airhostesses have basically said, we have your details so we’ll square it all up when we land. Don’t want to say that I don’t believe this woman, but I’d like to hear more information before passing judgement, because something seems iffy.

Woman orders food and drink, sees that card isn’t accepted, and despite the staff telling her not to eat the food she hasn’t paid for and to hand it back she eats the food.

Seems like she was the agent of her own misfortune.

I’m not convinced by her story. I was on a ra flight, I was really ill and my card wouldn’t work (apparently issues with my bank and their payment system). So the water was given to me for free. Whilst pringles may be different and she may not have been ill. I very much doubt they’ve kicked her off because she couldn’t pay….

    5. Seems a bit weird and heavy handed, I was at a festival in the summer where the card reader played up and the girl at the bar just said don’t worry about it for my £8.50 pint. If I were air crew that’s the approach I’d take.

    6. Doubt even Michael O’Leary would stoop low enough to throw someone off a flight for not been able to pay for tube of Pringles.

    7. I hate it when they put “mum” in the headline despite her “children” (she’s 55 btw) not being on the flight or in any way involved in the story.

I know why they do it (*read this other mums, it could happen to you and your kids too!*) but I cannot stand it when it has zero relevance to the story.

    8. I flew Ryanair more than once, then the snack cart comes next to you, they normally hand you your items and then take payment immediately.

Given that the woman didn’t manage to pay, doesn’t make sense why she opened Pringles.

Lets assume the crew went looking for another machine, she could have waited before opening the can. She didn’t. That’s kinda a normal expectation, I would assume.

Only once the other machines didn’t work she should have made a decision to return the items.

It sounds that the woman assumed because they didn’t take off the items from her immediately, whilst trying to find another machine she went and ate the food. This is her error and not the airlines.

I know sometimes payments are slow when in airplane,as a result, I wait until the crew confirm the payment went through before I open my items. Thats just common courtesy.

The fact that she consumed the products before the payment was processed is telling its own story.

    10. The number of people ok with this on here is astonishing. There’s just an assumption that the working class person must be wrong and the…checks notes…airline known to screw over passengers and milk them for every penny is innocent. Unbelievable.

Never bought anything on a Ryanair flight, but everytime i fly with them i see multiple people have issues with the card readers.

    12. Thing that stands out for me here is that I’m reading this thinking 7 quid for 2 drinks and some pringles on a plane isn’t too bad. That’s a tenner easy at a concert or the footy.

    13. But yet they’re letting people steal £100’s of pounds worth of goods from shops
