If you’re the tallest, the smallest, if you beat them all,
If you’re the fattest, the thinnest, if you always win,
If you’re the fastest, the slowest, if you really go,
Then you’re a record breaker, a record maker,
      you’re a record breaker.

And we’re not even half way through the year, we could double last years numbers.

The headline doesn’t say but this is numbers of illegal crossings. Also as always with these figures, these are only the ones that we know about.

I suppose it’s nice all these people want to move here but it’s costing a lot of money I’d rather see spent elsewhere.

    5. The mad thing is, this is one of the most expensive countries to live in now. Surprised it doesn’t put them off

This is just the Channel crossings where the figures can only be speculative. Legitimate asylum seekers can fly here on a plane or get on a ferry. The ones crossing over in the Channel are often the ones who work in criminal gangs because it’s easier for them to work here when no one knows they’re here. They don’t tend to claim asylum (although some that have already claimed asylum in other countries will).

It’s unsurprising if numbers are higher because the government is now deporting more people. The gangs need to replace them somehow.

    7. Couldn’t have something to do with the unusually calm and mild weather we’ve had since February making crossings a lot easier, could it? No, must be the government’s fault.

    8. I’ve said before and I will say it again, the Government, whether it be Tory, Labour or Reform do not want to stop them.

Thanks to every Government over the last several decades have used migrants as a way to prop up the economy.

As the years have gone on we have become more and more dependent on migrants to the point where the country would grind to a halt without them.

There are many things that the Government could do that would make the UK an unattractive destination to migrants but they don’t because they don’t want to stop coming.

For change to happen we need the Government and Businesses to heavily invest in youth training, improve job satisfaction, improve workers rights etc…

So in other words, never going to happen..

Stop handing out free money and accommodation. Suddenly people will stop fleeing the war in France.

Phew. Just in time to fill the shortfall of doctors, engineers and skilled tradespeople we need.

      Phew.

The Daily mail is entirely designed to divide and distract us. Like it or loath it, this country would be economically fucked without the migrant workforce. We have an aging population and cratering birthrate. No-one wants to have kids when people can’t afford a basic standard of living. What a surprise.

Ask yourself why the ‘cost of living crisis’ keeps getting worse, but the top 1% keep getting richer.

It’s a con. Thames Water payed out £158 million to shareholders, while chronically underinvesting in our infrastructure. The boss gets a multi-million pound pay-out and guess who gets left with the bill?

But sure, blame the migrants, blame the trans people, blame the ‘woke agenda’, because those are the real problems. You only have to look to the US to see where that takes us.

The weather is good. “Record migration” is linked to weather and how less deadly crossing the channel is.. when it’s bad for months and then good for a day, you’ll see “highest amount of migrants in a single day”

If we made a genuine push to have a national ID system, cracked down on cash only businesses and on how agencies hire people. We’d mostly solve this issue.
Along side this the west and the world needs to have a global push to have everyone documented and ID’d.
Surely the benefits outweigh the negatives

    14. Feels like we’re just barreling headfirst to Reform being in power in 2029 and its gonna be a shitshow

By doing nothing meaningful to stop it, the government is fueling the far rights rise.

Personally if I was in charge, I’d set up secure refugee camps where the illegals are held. I certainly wouldn’t put them ulin 4 star hotels in villages and towns across the country.

I am fairly liberal, but in a local village there is a hotel taken over for these illegal immigrants and they have done things like harass school kids and women. It’s a small village and a lot of people are angry.

The lefts inability to see how upsetting it is for people will see reform take power.

    16. If boats loads of brits starting turning up on the shores illegally of another country it would be labelled an invasion – what makes this any different.

This country is so F@cked and we let it happen as well.

Good, they enrich our culture, it’s the least we can do for meddling where we don’t belong and aiding and abetting the bombs being dropped on their countries.

    18. >Boat crossings only count for a tiny percentage!

Of a number that is going up year on year.

      *Illegal migrants

Illegal being the crucial part here. Wtf are we paying the french for again?

    20. Putin taking notes that to get Russian soldiers on British soil all he has to do is shove his troops on a dingy and they’ll be on our beaches in the hour

Why wouldn’t they? The government is complicit with dirty NGO’s to ruin Western Europe.
