The trades are wank in this country you’ll have cunts fuck with you all the time and if you do anything back it’s cry to the boss, and the majority of time it’s grown men doing it to teenage boys. i think the majority of men would do worse than threaten violence after having someone poke holes through your lunch

One morning about 7.45 my mate took another builders bread out of the toaster, was swiftly body slammed into an electric heater ripping the heater off the wall. While my mate was on the floor in pain, the builder took the now toasted bread out the toaster, stamped on it, then put his back in the toaster and swigged his tea.
The whole thing was a masterpiece in stupidity. One of the best things ive ever seen. Building sites are crazy places

only thing I ever liked about the trades was getting sent off for a fool’s errand when I was an apprentice.
“hey can you go to the supplier and get a long weight?”
Sure, not a problem boss.
*spends the say just outside the supplier vibing with my phone and a pack of fags*
Return just before time, explain that I asked for the longest wait I could get.

So reading the article, his colleagues basically bullied him to the point of him lashing out, and then when quizzed by their boss on who had done it, brought up the absusive messages.
Feel sorry for the lad, don’t feel sorry for the people he threatened, and the company should have intervened far earlier than they did.

Problem with the trades, is men acting juvenile. Odious and purile behaviour, bullying a young lad, they should be teaching skills. Not repeating a vicious cycle.
I admire young people these days, in certain ways. For the fact they will stand up for themselves. Yes some are snow flakes, but some will not take any bull, and I admire it. When I was young you were too frightened to open your mouth.
I hope this company is penalised for allowing a toxic work culture.

I think the supervisor needs to be sorted as he’s letting all this happen……

I find it a bit hard to respect some trades people because there is such a massive culture of acting like a cunt and pretending it’s funny. In any other setting nobody would accept it. I know it’s not remotely every individual and I know it’s a shitty bias to hold, but I can’t completely help it.

Someone poked finger holes in my sandwiches every time I went to the loo after arriving at college on the coach.
I made a sandwich with a cardboard & upholstery tacks (long thumb tacks) filling.
All the tacks faced up & were backed with tape.
Heard the screams from the toilet.
Never found out who did it.

Shouldn’t have reacted with threats but I can understand why someone would get pissed off when they’re effectively being bullied by their twat colleagues.
Trades really seem to attract man-child arseholes.

So what we’ve learned here is that Scania is a piece of shit company that allows bullying to the point where food gets tampered with. Just imagine if it was worse and something was added to the food that either made that person ill or even killed them.
Despite the threatening reaction from the apprentice Scania still has a lot of answer for as a company if this is common practice, there is a massive difference between banter/joking with colleagues and bullying.

I’ll die on this hill, the apprentices that join the trades game, getting videoed all the time and all that, it does my box in.
There’s a boss that gives the apprentice a lift in the morning, and fair enough the boy is always late, wouldn’t be me, I’d just sack him.
But he doesn’t. He draws it out, waits the entire time, phones him, records the whole thing then tears into him when he’s eventually in the van, blaming him for everything.
Like, fuck off. Just be a professional. Treat others how you’d like to be treated, who raised you to act like a fucking pack animal.
And it’s the whole field. You cannot go a day without scrolling onto one of these videos where some poor cunt gets the piss taken out of him. Maybe that would be one thing, but it’s the recording it that especially does my tits in.
And, I can safely say, my near decade now of working in an office, we didn’t do that to each other. We were there to turn up, do a job, have office cake then go home again, some point at that laugh and say we’re soft, but I’m also not having some dirty fucker in my sandwiches, so I think I’m winning.

Having worked in similar environments, and at one time being the youngest most inexperienced guy there, i can understand the frustration of being put through the gauntlet of pranks and teases.
I suppose i was fortunate enough that anyone who involved themselves in it never messed with my personal items like food, phone, clothing, etc. They also seemed smart enough not to do anything to people with short fuses, certainly not more than once if my memory serves me right.
Reading this just sounds like workplace bullying and the team not being switched on enough, or simply not caring, to know when to leave it. Someone messing with my food would certainly illicit the same reaction from me at his age.

I don’t want to shake the apple cart here, but do people sometimes think that Reddit is not quite the real world? Sometimes feels like a HR meeting where everyone must say the right thing, or be at risk to be downvoted to oblivion. Mods will remove any decent to literally the most corporate correct thing to say as you would on a form, and I feel it stifles discussion. Yer, bloke was pranked, and every one will say, ‘no that’s bullying’ but that’s just not the real life and I fear Reddit is getting away from that.

I worked for a catering company that atleast used to serve at food units at the grand national events. I was a outsider.. let’s just say I was a friend of a friend of the area directors.
So I was working to make some quick money on one of these food units and the guys that work with me are your typical blow their money on drugs and betting job guys all friends outside of the job.
I was on a unit and they would dip the plastic bags of fries into the oil to open the bags because they were presumably too lazy to open the bags with a knife. We had customers complaining about little bits of plastic in their food.
I asked them to stop doing it because well.. obvious reasons and then they all turned on me.
Trust me guys. It awakened me that even at a place as snobby as the grand nationals. Having people in their late teens talking about betting tens of thousands on horses while they wait for plastic french fries. I realised that your never really safe eating out.
Now I’m older and more mature and frankly less easily intimidated I would have done something about it. What they were doing would have been enough to have all those food units on site closed down and probably lose the contract that would have been worth alot of money for the company.
