Focusing on the big issues the country is facing then I see.
It’s one thing banning it.
Enforcing it is a whole different matter.
They’ll walk back on this one the moment someone points out it might disproportionately criminalise minority groups.
I absolutely hate all the people on my bus watching loud videos, largely of religious preaching or loud tiktoks.
It shouldn’t be banned though, that’s crazy. Just let me sit and quietly hate them.
Railway byelaws sort of cover this anyway.
It’s the enforcement that’s a problem. Made even worse with the driver only trains.
I hate the idiots who watch videos or listen to songs on loudspeaker. But I am not sure these laws would ever be enforced in public transport.
I would prefer them to first ban Loud music that disturb neighbours after 10 at night and actually enforce it through police.
Yes, it is really annoying.
Could it ever be effectively policed? Of course not!
Is this one of those laws that would be created to make this an arrestable offence? If people are just being the worst and police do somehow manage to be there to enforce it, they would have this to cite rather than public disorder/nuisance or whatever the current option is?

It feels like the number of minor social infractions one has to contend with increases daily. This kind of social breakdown then feeds into other parts of life as it feels there is no enforcement of the etiquette that allows millions of people to live together in a small country.
People are too scared to enforce these norms themselves, either for fear of violence or the fear that they will end up on the wrong side of the law. Arseholes use this to do what they want, playing music on public transport, littering, driving dangerously etc.
It seems like a small problem but it’s something that affects all of us on a day to day basis. Cumulatively it is a large problem.
I am sure that the people who do this will care deeply about this law and obey it at all times. Give me a break.
Just make it legal to take people’s phones off them and chuck them out the window instead
I feel like there just might be more important legislation to pass. Perhaps even just more important things for the police to enforce. Probably not though.
Add having phone conversations on loud speaker to that one as well. In what world was this made fucking acceptable everywhere.
Total madness…the UK is turning into a Police state,what is next? Maybe no public show of affection, or maybe banning freedom of expression?

Answering the phone on loud speaker anywhere but your own home should be eliminated.
I mist admit with all the struggles in life in 2025 teenagers playing music on phone speakers is definitely the number one voting concern.

Good. I have no problem with more laws coming into place to help make being out in public better for all. Ban eating on public transport, loud music and have much harsher penalties for litter dropping.
It’s one of those idle political promises that sound good until you realise that it’s never going to happen.

Surely this is unenforceable, like banning people from taking up the full width of a pavement when you’re walking towards them where only two people side by side can fit?
You can’t really legislate against social contracts and decent manners, or enforce spacial awareness. A lot of people just lack the mental capacity for it. Leaving it to companies to enforce will rarely if ever happen.
It requires a cultural change – people actually calling out selfish behaviour rather than just keeping quiet and then bitching about it later.
Sensible policies for a happier Britain. Enforcement should be by immediate summary deportation.

Public Transport should be nationalised and there should be inspectors on more buses and trains finding and kicking off people displaying antisocial behaviour.
While public transport is ran for profit the service and experience for the public will continue to decline as shareholders must make a higher profit.
Capitalism only works for consumer benefit when there is competition. There is no competition in local public transport when each company has a de facto monopoly on the local transport.
Can we bring back social stigma so these we don’t need law enforcement to stop stuff like this?
