The daily mail mentioning far right rage, is in itself quite something. I’m pretty sure it and the other tabloids spread this stuff daily.

Crossbows have been a hole in our weapons legislation for a while, I’m surprised there haven’t been more incidents, to be honest.

    It’s probably a mix of:

    1) Complexity: crossbows can have things go wrong with them that aren’t easy to repair, unlike blades.

    2) Draw requirement: to use a crossbow quickly you have to have it pre-drawn, which is unsafe both for the carrier and mechanism, and then draw it again to fire another bolt, which takes time and all your attention.

    3) Ammo requirement: bolts are sizeable, unlike bullets.

    4) Difficult to conceal: a crossbow big enough to realistically pose a serious threat to human life is going to be hard to hide on the person.

Having said all that, it is still possible to buy an extremely potent crossbow without a special license and then use it to commit a premeditated crime quickly and without much chance for the poor victim to anticipate or react to the attack.

Being a woman in this day and age where terminally online freaks try to kill you because of their own entitlement and rejection issues must be terrifying.

Idk what the solution is, but misogyny is an epidemic online.

It’s like because everything else was more forcefully “cancelled” a lot of that displaced bigotry migrated to misogyny.

Were the laws on crossbows not seriously reviewed after that horrific incident with the ex boyfriend who killed two girls and the mum a year or two ago?! And there was another few cases in Shoreditch last year also. How is this still happening

  5. He also wrote a post saying,

    “What I Hate / What I don’t like.

Gender equality, hollyoaks, bisexual relationships, soap operas, homosexual rapists, career criminals, nobheads, islamic extremists, feminists of all four waves, feminoids, x factor, pop idol, celebrity bullshit, virtue signalling, dumb people, fat people, normies”

  6. Men continue being objectively by far the greatest danger to women? Boring.

Can we steer the conversation back to those abominable trans people? I heard one might have entered a women’s toilet recently.

  7. I am going to throw out a wild theory here, it is going to get hate, I know……. because everybody loves a chance to jump on a hate band wagon and wave the flag for whatever “team” they support, but……..

This is not the result of a misogynistic conspiracy against women issue…….

This is not a “crossbows need banned” issue

This is not an “Internet needs policing to combat the rise of incels” issue

This is a straight up mental health issue.

Society, both online and IRL is a cesspool of hatred, everything gets reduced to polarised demonisation, and people are out there suffering with little to no support.

Adult mental health services in this country have been woefully insufficient for a very long time, and when these people are left unsupported and unchecked, it is not surprising that they spiral into a mindset where they are willing to commit acts of violence against themselves or others.

The media loves to create an agenda around the person’s race, religion, gender, or anything else they can jump on as this sews division, creates outrage, sells papers and generates clicks.

The truth is, the thing that all of these people have in common, driving them to commit these acts is not that they are men, or brown or white or believe in any cause………. ot is because they are very mentally unwell and likely have been for a long time.

YES, there are misogynists and missandrists, islamists and racists, anti semites, and all manner of nasty viewpoints out there……… but the overwhelming majority of those drawn to identify with these viewpoints to the point of committing violence, do so because they are off the rails and have lost all hope.

People in a healthy, happy state of mind are infinitely less likely to be drawn towards the blind hatred of others. This is the result we should all be pushing for together, not endlessly pissing and arguing, using reported statistics to one up people of a different gender, race, religion or attitude.

Try it, next time you see a horrible story, think “Could this have been avoided if this person had been identified as needing help, and had access to said help?”

Oh but women are the emotional ones right?

Men do realise that anger counts as an emotion?

  9. Wonder when we are going to start treating right wing media like tate and others that promote hate in the same way we’d treat other hate materials and pro terrorism material.

How do you need a license for a gun in this country, yet you can buy a powerful crossbow online very easily?

  11. RoyalMaleGigalo on

Genuine question. Who is radicalising these people? Are they doing it to themselves or is there something more sinister?

I feel like there’s a term of people like him – or does that only apply to brown people?

But what about the loneliness epidemic, lack of role models and those articles that the guardian wrote?!

Why have men gone absolutely fucking mental in the last few years? Can’t just be from watching podcasts surely.

He was obviously emulating that Hollyoaks blackpill storyline where a fella shoots women with a crossbow.

“counter-terror police analysed a Facebook post outlining plans for ‘The Otley Run massacre’.” What’s there to analyse? It was on his Facebook page in black and white. And it wasn’t a last minute post either, he’s been posting for months and months this stuff.

They’ve taken his page down now… why didn’t they do it months ago? I saw the posts before Facebook removed them, and girls in Yorkshire have been seeing his posts for months too.

The state only react once something bad has happened.

But don’t you know. It’s trans women who are the threat to women. /s

It’s all a smokescreen, misogyny and domestic violence are rife in the UK. A lot of women will dread the football because of what happens if they don’t win, the abusive partner full of beer turns to beat them as an outlet for their violent tendencies.

It’s really bad online, tech companies have a LOT to answer for pushing the right wing “manosphere” bullshit on people. It’s a growing crisis but our legislative body is so technologically out of touch and inept nothing gets done. Not to mention the amount of precious parliamentary time that gets wasted on transphobic bills like the puberty blocker ban when we have real issues like these that urgently need addressing.

  18. Another one that no doubt aligns their views with the likes of Boris Johnson and Andrew Tate

  19. I have a hot take here.

I don’t think many of these “chronically online mysogynists” actually hate women. I think this society, as well as online predators such as the likes of Andrew Tate, have groomed them by using our failure as a society to support and nurture masculinity. Everyone is to blame here. Tate-types shouldn’t be preying on young men. Young men shouldn’t be violently lashing out. And our society shouldn’t be neglecting these young men.

As a young man in the west, we are essentially taught that we aren’t special. Our bodies are constantly judged by ourselves, women and our peers. Our achievements aren’t necessarily seen as significant the way a woman’s/young lady’s achievements are, and any hint of masculinity is pretty much shot down and replaced with masculising (is there a better word for this?) the women around them.

Women are automatically taught they’re special from a very young age. They are immediately called princesses and queens. They are taught their bodies are perfect and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Their achievements are usually made significant because they are a woman/girl and are celebrated as such. We have recently gone through our young lives seeing an entire other gender get all the attention and us getting none. I’m not saying this is an excuse to be a mysogynist, but I am saying that we shouldn’t be surprised our young men are turning out like this or are become vulnerable to mysogynistic grooming when we have essentially culturally isolated them and their desire for masculinity and recognition. We have “liberated” women at the expense of our boys and it’s honestly such a tragedy.

If we *really* want to tackle this issue, we need to take a deeper look at how thousands of these boys are being treated by the society we have created.
