I know that low-key I will get criticized 🙏🏻
I asked about how to boil cod yesterday and ppl say that it’s not boiled it’s poached.

Apologies that my English is not the best and I didn’t know what’s poached.

I tried to poach the cod for 7 minutes with 4 dining spoons of salt, a bit crushed pepper and some bay leafs in the water.

It tastes good. Very similar to steamed cod, which is how my family would cook cod.

It tastes just like the middle part of the fish in fish and chips. Very tender and savory.

I ate it with rice and soy sauce as I don’t cook potatoes much.

I think it would taste much better with better cod, I got mine in grocery store so it’s really basic cod. Good cod is very soft and tender when it’s cooked. And it can be cut with a spoon like a cake. I’d like to try Norwegian cod when I visit next time 😋

I find it funny that you asked how to cook cod in the “Norwegian way” and then you ate it with rice and soy sauce! Not bad tho.

You have it how you like it, others will do the same and everyone will be happy. If anyone criticises you just ignore them.

Boiled potatoes, boiled carrots, and melted butter are the superior condiments.

But it looks delicious, i’ll give you that.

    4. You should try to cut bacon into pieces then fry on a pan then pour the bacon grease and bits on top of the cod.

    5. I think you should listen to those who criticize you, those who say you shouldn’t are the always annoyingly positive types, and these insufferable yes-people hold back the betterment of humanity. They also create some of the most deadly cults.

Now, there is nothing inherently norwegian about poaching fish. The norwegian part of it is how you serve it. Since the 1700s, that has been with potatoes. Then there’s the older “Mølje”, which still survives in parallell, where you stir fish meat, roe and liver together to a sort of coarse porridge or stew. Can be eaten on barley or rye flatbread, or you break up the flatbread and add it to the porridge as you are cooking it.

I showed your picture to my grandmother, and now she’s in the hospital. Well she was anyways, but it could have put her there if she wasn’t so it’s very lucky she was.
