But if they don’t make these cuts, how is Trump supposed to funnel money back to Elon Musk? ^s
I sometimes wonder what Carl Sagan’s thoughts would be on our current state of affairs. A lot of what he said in his book “The Demon Haunted World” has come to pass.
I imagine looking at stuff like Dragonfly he would be amazed but then you have deflating news like this that would make him feel distraught his fears have come to pass. Either way, man I wish he were still here
Trump has got to be the biggest least forward thinking leader ever. Today he also removed funding to PBS which basically raised me. So the dude is severely not understanding the full devastation he is wrecking on us. Or maybe he is; as I propose he’s Putins little friend and is doing this as a favor. Let that idea stew awhile in your mind.
Anybody who voted for Trump is welcoming this, including Buzz Aldrin. I hope he sees what is happening and feels shame and regret for aligning himself with a fascist.
The only way to revert this is by making normal people see the value of having a non-profit, governmental agency like NASA. A watershed moment like Sputnik was back in the day. For that reason, I hope the Chinese reach the Moon sooner than expected and replace the American flag (that should be completely bleached, after 55 years of solar radiation) with their own. The “sheer disrespect” would force even the most anti-science administration to pour money into NASA to recover the capability to actually travel to the Moon and beyond (and not just render beautiful, corporate videos).
This is really frustrating especially when they’re talking about uping the defense budget by over $100B. NASAs whole budget is around $25B.
The clock is ticking for NASA, soon it will be hollowed out and shuttered, SpaceX will take over all functions; except for that pesky climate change monitoring of course.
As long as fascism is grouped in with regular-ass, non-genociding ideologies, this country is absolutely fucked.
In other news, Trump is transferring the army into the police, amassing an army against the people of the United States as opposed to one defending against invasion.
Wonder what he’s gonna do with it? Hmm
