Recently the Icelandic government wants to tax our fishing industry more fairly since they pretty much own their fishing quota and can do what they want with it.

Now the fishing industry lobbyists are launching these commercials and talking about how horrible the Norwegian fishing industry is. They are calling it “The Norwegian Way”

So, is the fishing industry in Norway really a diaster and collapsing?

    1. Fishing industry in Norway has been in a steady decline since 1956.

It is not quite as bad as presented in this specific commercial, but fairly close.

Larger and larger ships, small actors being pushed out of the market, and fishermen trading quotas to eachother to cover more ground.

Rich people heard that we export lots of fish, and wanted more money, so they invested without knowing how the industry works, then they did changes that benefit threes of people while hurting tens of people.
