  1. “We are one step closer to getting a lunar time zone this week, as a bill passed out of the US House Science, Space and Technology committee directs the administrator of NASA to develop a way to coordinate and measure time on the moon.”

  2. “There is no time in space. This is to say there is no chronology that can be calibrated”- Kanamit from twlight zone

  3. Good luck to the poor soul that has to explain time dilation to a room full of congressmen

Whew! This has kept me up at night forever, well, 14 days, at least!!

Never mind the ax being taken to programs by unelected flunkies or nonsense like rebuilding Alcatraz or deporting citizens or foreigners without due process, all of which Congress loves apparently and refuses oversight

So, when will it be announced that SpaceX will be awarded a 2.5 billion dollar contract to develop Lunar Standard Time?

Damn. Americans have lost the plot. This is the most bizarre timeline.

  8. Thank god our government is focusing on the things that really matter right now, like what #$%# time zone the moon is in.

  9. Fully supportive of this. But at the end of the day, people will use earth time due to sleep cycles and the rest.

  10. How about the US fix Daylight savings / Standard time flip flopping? I think that’s a higher priority.

  11. More advanced robots that don’t exist yet.

Which as part of planning for them you would have to calculate for the time anyways.

Since we don’t have a “more advanced robot that needs a moon time zone” project yet, we don’t need to work on it yet.

Once that project starts then we work on it as part of the project.
