China is accelerating its efforts to build the world’s first [nuclear fusion reactor](https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3261167/nuclear-fusion-reactors-step-closer-being-economically-viable-after-scientific-breakthrough?module=inline&pgtype=article) capable of achieving net energy generation – a move that would be a historic step towards commercialising a clean, safe and near-limitless source of energy.

The Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak (Best), is now in its final assembly phase in Hefei and is expected to be completed in 2027, state news agency Xinhua reported.

  2. It is almost as if China realised all the benefits that scientific progress has shown can be gained with a lot of these things is actually quite worth while in the long run.

Wish that was more common, most countries, including my own, have a painfully slow adoption rate.
