The **MEGOBARI Act** shows that the U.S. is standing behind the Georgian people in their push for Euro-Atlantic integration and stronger democracy. The bill calls for sanctions on those undermining democracy and asks for reports on foreign influence—specifically from Russia, China, and Iran—as well as on how sanctions might be getting dodged. It also opens the door for more support to civil society and defense if Georgia gets back on track with its constitutional commitments.
Next, the bill goes to the Senate, where it’s already cleared the Foreign Relations Committee. If it passes there, it’ll head to President Donald Trump for final approval.
