Thousands of Germans were settled in by russians in Georgia in the begining of XIX century, mostly in Qvemo Kartli region and Tbilisi itself.

In 1941 stalin deported almost every single german to siberia after the start of german invasion of ussr. Germans that were married to Georgians were spared from this. In 2002 only 30 elderly ethnic germans remained in Qvemo Kartli region.
