    – Using Bank of Georgia cards, Russian citizens will only be able to purchase items priced at no more than €300 (approximately 930 GEL).

    – According to Russian media, this is the first known case where the purchase of luxury goods is being restricted not by a specific store, but by the card-issuing bank itself.

    What exactly is the point?

I would have thought that the purchase of luxury goods in Georgia would only help the country. And presumably any rich Russian would have other ways to pay.

However, I can absolutely understand that you don’t want Russians pushing up the price of property, or goods that are more essential to life.

How does it stop the current Georgia’s government from sucking Putin’s dick?

Rich Russian citizens can easily buy Gucci and Loro Piana in Moscow, in TSUM or oskelly

It’s funny that if you have Russian diplomatic passport or work for international organization (UN like) you are excluded from the 4th sanction package.

For the reference knowing the size of Russian foreign mission and that central govt apparatus and their families have access to diplomatic passports. Tens of thousands of them are excluded.

    1% strikes wins again.

  7. I think Georgia is too VAT dependent for this to be a good idea. Plenty of European luxury goods are still making their way to Moscow or Russian homes abroad, why hurt Tbilisi’s coffers? It’s better the russian oligarchs blow their bucks on fun euro stuff rather than investing in Russia or China
