3 galaxies at once! I photographed the Milky Way and both Magellanic Clouds in this star field from the SpaceX Crew 9 Dragon spacecraft, during Expedition 72 to the ISS. Below, city lights streak across the time history, and red atmospheric airglow separates our planet from the stars above. My star tracker allowed for stars to be photographed as fixed pinpoints while the Earth continued to rotate below, making this detail possible.

Amazing. I managed to capture Andromeda on my phone after a stop at some tiny gas station on the outskirts or Mark twain National Forest and I’ve been hooked ever since. Great work and I’m insanely jealous lol
My word! Is that what the stars look like from outside of earth!??
Wait what you are on ISS?
oh my god I just discovered it now. That’s amazing dude!
Great shot! I don’t know how you have the willpower to do anything other than look out the window all day.
Is this how stars look like from space? If so, that’s the most breathtaking and awe demanding view I could lay my eyes on.
Wow! Thank you for sharing! Things like this remind me our future is still full of wonder and make things seem not quite so grim 💚
Do you have a BlueSky I can follow? Would love to see this on there
Dang thats beautiful! How’d you manage to get on board the ISS? Can I just sneak inside the wheel well of the space shuttle? (This is a joke, plz im sorry)
Pardon my ignorance but what is the visual “aura” around the earth? Scientifically, please..
I’m curious, how many photos did you take on the ISS, and how long is it going to take to process them all?
And also, what’s next for you? Stick around to try and break John Glenn’s record while teaching the rest of the corps photography, retire and publish a coffee table book of photos?
What a goddamn flex, I love it. “Oh, you like space pics? Nice grainy ass picture of the moon from a 3000x Bobbittyboop. Anyway, here’s a shot *from* space *of* space.”
How do you track the stars in space? I can’t imagine you align to Polaris.
I see you mentioned a startracker but I’m still confused. You should do a video walkthrough of that if you have time.
I’m surprised it could be done in a single exposure.
