I think regardless of background, who they pledge to, what their motives are, it’s pretty evident that whoever is doing these sort of attacks is suffering with mental health issues.
It’s not normal behaviour at all, the majority of people wouldn’t dream of doing it and as much as people want to blame religion or certain cultures, I feel like it’s more likely people who aren’t in a very good places mentally, who are easier to trick and groom into some of societies worst crimes.
Last time I checked, 80% of MI5’s case load is spent on Islamists /Jihadist. It does make you wonder how close we are to incidents like this all the time, we just never know thanks to great police work.
Maybe we should have something like the pledge of allegiance to the USA. Hand on the holy book, renounce all allegiance to anything else etc.

More young British Muslim men have left the UK to join ISIS and other terrorist groups, and fight and kill in the name of Islam, than are in the British army. Some clearly join ISIS without leaving though….
There is a clear problem of extreme ideology within this demographic, it simply cannot be ignored any more, despite how deeply terrified our government is of “Islamaphobia”, even going as far as to attempt to ratify specific laws for Islamaphobia, seemingly forgetting that laws surrounding all religious speech already exist.

So all he did was phone the police to announce his allegiance to ISIS? Did he not offer a motivation for his choice of target? Or perhaps were his comments on his choice of target not something the police wish the public to hear.
I have to admit some cynicism at the police and their keenness to manage stories. I suspect he was a little more forthcoming that has been said here.

When the investigation of crimes like this are concluded, information on how they were radicalised needs to be properly publicised.
There are a lot of Muslim parents out there that just want a better life for their kids, and worry about who or what might be exposed to online. It’s very difficult for parents to manage this.
