>UK households have been urgently warned to delete a popular VPN app, Modpro IP TV + VPN, as it covertly spies on your screen and drains bank accounts. Cyber security experts at Cleafy estimate that a staggering 3,000 devices have already been infected by the app, which carries the dangerous Klopatra malware

Mod pro IPTV is a app for watching tv – so is it that and a VPN that was the problem or the modpro iptv app which makes more sense as they usually used for streaming with out subscriptions?

If only people in the UK didn’t have to turn to using VPNs for some reason… Hmm, I wonder what the cause could be. 🤔

Never heard of this vpn. This is just fear mongering. They found one person who used a dodgy vpn and paid the price.
Get a vpn. you’re gonna need it.

Worrying that this is possible, it seems like quite a large floor in the android system to be able to use the Accessibility suite in that way so hopefully that gets patched up.

I wonder why people are using VPNS.
Did the UK government not consider a lot of sites which are harmful to children just won’t give a fuck 😂.
Labour speed running giving the country to Farage. Wild how out of touch Starmer and Labour are with the country.

Tbh it’s a vpn tacked on to iptv so it’s not surprising it’s dodgy. You have pretty much always needed a vpn for Internet telly, so this isn’t really a consequence of the Internet safety act (shite as it is)

Or… get a reputable VPN, because like with anything, you get what you pay for.

Now they gonna try to push the narrative that VPNs are dangerous

This ‘VPN’ (and probably several aliases of it) isn’t found through any official store – you have to be installing it through popups and dodgy pages.
This basically has nothing to do with VPNs, it’s just viruses disguising themselves as the latest hot trend, because 90% of being a successful hacking group is social engineering and tricking you to click things you shouldn’t. Before this they were probably pretending to be free crypto apps.

I wonder why people are using VPN… maybe it’s not to to with the censorship law the Labour government has expanded…they are speed running giving this country to Farage🥲

Pretty sick scam, probably planning it for months. This plus the fact UK IDs gave already been leaked. What a shit policy. Can’t even use imgur anymore without a VPN.

Why are you using a VPN to access unblocked sites like your bank? Seems dumb to use it for anything other than accessing restricted stuff *porn*

Am I being funny or why wouldn’t you just use Mullvad or Proton?

Use ProtonVPN, they have a good free version and are made by a great privacy respecting company.

Yeah, that totally sounds like a reliable and trustworthy VPN 🙄

Don’t use a free VPN, nothing in this world is free, it’s likely legitimately spying on you per their T&C’s you didn’t read.

A few drained pleb bank accounts is a price Peter Kyle is willing to pay to keep the children safe!!!

I fully expected the government to have emptied the accounts to punish the VPN user, and I wasn’t even surprised. Afterwards, I realised how shocking it was that I assumed that.

It’s free!!! Yippee. Maybe pay for a well established VPN from a reputable provider. Do your own research.

The online safety act is the root of all the problems
Personal downloads fake VPN, gets drained.
Government: “DELETE YOUR VPNS”.
