Bribed, they bribed Gething. Companies don’t donate money because they truly believe in the values of a politician, they do it because they can alter the behaviour of the politician to increase their profit.
£200k for an internal leadership vote? It is just beyond ridiculous that anyone involved didn’t realise this was dodgy. They didn’t care though – just saw the £s.
That is only half of it though. The company got a £400k loan from the department Gething oversaw – they then donated £200k to him!
