  1. Forget the comparisons at this point. We all know that Europe did much better and that the US is an unreliable and deeply dysfunctional state.

Let’s focus on the future. We can do much more in Ukraine. We need to do much more in Ukraine. We owe it to them. And it’ll be a signal to the world as well as to which western union will be the real superpower of the 21st century.

This isn’t something to be proud of though, the fact that they invested so much aid for a country that isn’t even remotely in their sphere of influence, ukraine is almost a part of europe and still we rely on a country in another continent to help solve our problems for us.

The US bigger sacrifice is sanctions against Russia has hurt the dollars reserve status. While American is sanctioning countries like India, Europe is making the biggest every trade deals with the Indians.

The US has risked our entire financial system. Europeans won’t even take the Russian cash from their banks and give it to the Ukrainians. It’s “too risky”.

  4. The USA didn’t make a single sacrifice, most of that money went into their own MiC. They just gave Ukraine their old stuff and ordered new stuff from their own MiC.

And obviously that helped Ukraine, but it’s not a sacrifice for the US at all lol.

  5. I say it again: The US gave a security guarantee to Ukraine after they destroyed their nuclear arsenal. They willingly offered to protect them.

    US security protections are worthless.

  6. Remember, measuring things for American is difficult. You have to put in terms they can understand, like “football fields” and “gallons” and “semi-truck length”… maybe if this was in “McD happy meals” it would make more sense to the treasury secretary

  7. That doesn’t even include estimated cost of refugees which for Germany is 47,5B € as example

  8. Says the former hedge fund manager who managed to turn $5 billion into $500 million in a few years!

    Really a financial genius!

I agree with the point that Europe has, by now, become much more of a supporter to Ukraine than America.

That said, starting the counter on the day of the invasion is a bit unfair, because America had been helping Ukraine a lot before the invasion, when most European powers (namely Germany) thought that war either wouldn’t happen or that Russia would win easily.

Remember Trump’s first impeachment? That was over demanding Zelensky lie about Joe Biden in return for Trump not blocking support that Congress had already approved.

  10. For one, Ukraine is not our problem. It is EU’s problem considering they border each other. Unlike EU we are actually putting out military to use and taking out Russian allies in Venezuela and Iran on top of seizing their oil tankers which Zelensky adamantly supports

Secondly, most of what EU has given Ukraine are [loans](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crew8y7pwd5o) and will have to be paid back. Most of what the U.S. gave Ukraine were grants and will not have to be paid back.

Even the recently [approved ](https://www.bbc.com/news/live/ce8np3pnljdt)aid to Ukraine is a loan.

There should be a law that punishes the lying of people in charge of the country.. that is so stupid. It wasn’t much like that in the past. Just the bad times happening.

I strongly support Ukraine. The Europeans should do more than the US since they are right next door. Not taking the $300 billion in frozen russian money is a total wimp move. Not giving more long range weapons and greenlights to hit inside of Russia is pathetic.

Both the US and EU let Ukraine down.

    Everything Americans tell are lies.

They’re masters of propaganda, they always were.

  14. Europe still needs to do a lot more to stop the genocide.

Remember, after Hitler took Czechoslovakia he force conscripted the men and used that army to invade Poland.

If you think Putler will stop with just Ukraine, you are a moron.

  15. Don’t forget that European countries having taken in millions of Ukrainian refugees. They’ve been fed, housed and given access to health care and education for nearly 4 years. That’s not peanuts.

  16. Turbulent_Pin7635 on

Add to this amount the costs that Europe paid alone boycotting Russia.

Who won this war was the USA. Who lose the war was Europe.

Scott Bessent goes boldly ‘where no man has gone before’, except for Trump’s proctologists of course.

Are the US doing anything but selling munitions with a big markup? The effin’ french are securing us with their nukes and with their intelligence

    Huh?

  19. You don’t understand because you’re not American. If the US does it automatically counts for 5x more

  20. Historical-Many9869 on

if you are buying american products and services you are anti european at this point

  21. Technically USA does provide the most aid for Ukraine! Considering EU countries are multinational and only provide less than 30% more than a single country USA.

  22. Financial pressure works. Stop buying American. Decouple technology. Divest of US treasuries.

  23. Brief-Alfalfa-3300 on

Not really related to anything political and not defending/attacking any side or point here but it sincerely kind of feels like people sincerely forget the US is 1 country and the EU is multiple countries. Why is it always spoken like the EU is like the US when its totally different?

  24. It’s is just unfair to sell redundant cold war military stock for top dollar and count it as aid. They even use the current replacement cost for new equipment to publish these numbers .So the 3 million 155 mm houwitzer rounds are “worth” roughly $3,000–$5,000 per round.

Same logic applies for all military equipment.

You can do anything with numbers and politics. These aid “cost” is the contract value of unbuild new equipment. Some PAC-2 patriot systems where from the 1990s at roughly $2 million per missile.

  25. So this chart shows that 1 country is providing almost as much support as an entire other continent?
