this is some next-level irony, bro. always wild when the rules change depending on who’s in charge.

No no no, the immunity only applies to bloated sacks of shit of course, SCOTUS only made their overlord immune.  /s

      Correction: They gave Republicans immunity.

They took away the immunity of any Democrat holding office, effectively, for the same crime. As the wording of the enabling ruling they made keeps the definition of an “official act” vague enough to where the case would always get kicked back to the Supreme Court.

That July was a soft coup. And they got away with it because we allowed it.

    6. He is good at distracting people and always giving them something to talk about so people don’t ask real questions

    7. SCOTUS gave sitting presidents immunity from prosecution. You can absolutely charge presidents with crimes they committed in office, after they leave office.

Thats entirely how trump was convicted between his 1st and 2nd term.

So as it stands, if a sitting president commits a crime you must impeach, THEN charge them.

Can’t they just create a bogus reason? Like the other day when they were going that he violated the Logan Act or something

Do you really think hypocrisy gives republicans pause?

Here’s the thing, they gave “official” acts immunity.

And people have allowed them to define what is official without any push back.

    10. No, the scotus made “official acts” above the law, and that they get to decide what counts as an official act.

That way, Republicans get immunity, dems get treason charges. Still waiting to hear what the dem plan is about this, because right now it seems “become a small opposition party” is the plan.

For some reason I think the SCOTUS would change their mind on this “ruling” if given the chance.

I believe the immunity only applies to any duties and actions that the president is permitted to take while being President.

I’m unsure whether it extends to things which may be factually illegal for a President to do. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    13. GhostofAugustWest on

Zero chance Thomas, Roberts and Alito would apply the same rules to Obama.

    14. I’m sure the supreme court can find the logic for a carve out for black presidents

    15. TributaryOtis on

The fact that SCOTUS gets to decide what’s an official act that gets immunity is why I advocated for Biden to send the six conservative justices to Guantanamo. Can’t rule that it wasn’t an official act from there.

    16. Give it a year and it’ll be rolled back to just Trump or republican presidents

    17. MaybeTheDoctor on

Actually please do start legal procedures because it will invalidate the scotus ruling for when it’s trumps turn
