The annoying thing about people like Trump is that they think they’re clever because they play by different rules.
But the problem is, it only gives them a very short term advantage, because the moment others see them “cheating” everyone else starts cheating too.
Hence why the rules of engagement existed to begin with.
And that’s why politics is in such a state across the world – because everyone has had to embrace utter madness in order to compete with the maniacs who have thrown out the rulebook.
And now we’re going to be doing it with the economy! Great…

If hes adding tariffs to imports to virtually every country they trade with, isnt this just going to increase the cost of stuff for Americans?

“Deal” can be worked out. Just stop sending Ukraine money, let Musk plug his data skimming hard drives into the Treasury, replace Starmer with the trout-faced Reform man, and knock down Scotland all the way down to the Lake District to put in a couple hundred golf holes. Just some easy basic things to maybe allow some cheap exports of beef flavoured hormone-filled mystery meat.

He mentions that the EU doesn’t buy American cars. Maybe because they wouldn’t fit on roads built before America existed.
It’s bad enough driving on our roads with everyone wanting to be in a large SUV, last thing we need are jacked up pick up trucks driving around. Plus most of them don’t meet regulations and barely make double figures on MPG.

I was reading an article which said our exports to the USA are relatively minor in comparison with other major economies, it’s mostly services like banking and consultancy which typically aren’t subject to tariffs, so that’s possibly why we’re deemed to be exempt – it really wouldn’t have a massive impact on us.

America’s sucked us dry for years. Their grubby politicians just want more and more and more despite America’s economy being much better than ours right now. You have to stop and ask, what do they want? Why is it they have so many bases, so much military and economic power?
They’re taking over the world, and it’s time to fight back.

It is funny that he was elected in the US supposedly because people didn’t like inflation and wanted prices to go down, never mind all the shitty things he was going to bring with him to them and the rest of the world, prices was what mattered, and now everything is essentially going to be extra expensive for them by order of his elected president 🫣

I don’t think he meant to say the UK is out of line – I think this was another example of when he says the wrong word/name (in this case, saying the UK when he meant to say “the EU is way out of line”) but rather than admit he misspoke, he inserts an “and”, pretending he meant to say both things.
Obviously this isn’t a good thing for us – unless it prompts some of the Trump cheerleaders at home to reevaluate their stance on how we should deal with him – but I don’t think it means as much as the headline would make you believe. His initial response to the question was a better indicator of where he’s at with us.
Edit: Here’s an example of the self-correction strategy I’m talking about
The only way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them. If everybody just decided to ignore the US, at least until the inevitable war he tries to start, we can all just trade amongst ourselves and leave the Americans to swim in their own shit.
