In a way, it’s more insulting that he’s implied we’re going to get favourable treatment in comparison to other countries/blocs. He’s basically saying he knows we’ll roll over and let him tickle our tummies.

The annoying thing about people like Trump is that they think they’re clever because they play by different rules.
But the problem is, it only gives them a very short term advantage, because the moment others see them “cheating” everyone else starts cheating too.

I don’t see the point in making deals with America while Trump is in power.
He mentions that the EU doesn’t buy American cars. Maybe because they wouldn’t fit on roads built before America existed.
It’s bad enough driving on our roads with everyone wanting to be in a large SUV, last thing we need are jacked up pick up trucks driving around. Plus most of them don’t meet regulations and barely make double figures on MPG.
I was reading an article which said our exports to the USA are relatively minor in comparison with other major economies, it’s mostly services like banking and consultancy which typically aren’t subject to tariffs, so that’s possibly why we’re deemed to be exempt – it really wouldn’t have a massive impact on us.

I don’t think he meant to say the UK is out of line – I think this was another example of when he says the wrong word/name (in this case, saying the UK when he meant to say “the EU is way out of line”) but rather than admit he misspoke, he inserts an “and”, pretending he meant to say both things.
Obviously this isn’t a good thing for us – unless it prompts some of the Trump cheerleaders at home to reevaluate their stance on how we should deal with him – but I don’t think it means as much as the headline would make you believe. His initial response to the question was a better indicator of where he’s at with us.
