Summary of r/BiH year in a few lines

A few days ago I was looking at the annual statistics of the sub and I was so surprised that I asked our Filius: can this f-king be true?

Because the metrics show that the number of views on Saturday in this calendar year grew by 186% compared to the previous year. For those who are less able to calculate percentages, 100% would be double. And we grew by 186%.

At the same time, the number of published posts grew by 165%. Even if these numbers are not completely accurate, one thing is clear: by all possible statistics, we had a record year and strong community growth.

This growth happened despite the fact that this year we launched another domestic sub – r/AskBosnia. There were fears that he would r/AskBosnia you had to do pada engagea na r/BiHthat we are still too small for "ask tip suba"and that no one will actually want to write on the new sub. And really, the first few months the sub grew quite slowly, and I won’t even mention how many times we got comments from the guy "jI can’t wait for this experiment to fail" or "I don’t want to write on Saturday with 50 people".

But here, about five months after activation, r/AskBosnia has 20 thousand unique weekly users. This means that it is already the second largest domestic sub on Reddit. By that metric, which Reddit itself highlights as primary, r/AskBosnia r/bosnia or r/srpska. The previous month, on r/AskBosnia more than 500 topics were published, which is r/AskBosnia for the first time, it exceeded itself in quantity r/BiH.

Therefore, r/AskBosnia is here to stay. Our vision was and remains: r/BiH for more serious and contained topics, a place where we discuss political, economic, cultural, and social issues in general, while r/AskBosnia serves practical questions and help requests – especially related to daily life, services, bureaucracy, legal and educational topics, shopping, and simple and quick inquiries.

And r/AskBosnia wasn’t launched right when it was, these 500+ monthly service threads would have already completely drowned out the main sub and effectively made it "customer support for life issues". A r/BiH it should and can be more than that.

The year will also be remembered for what we are launched AMA guest appearances. We had four… well, three away games. We asked over a thousand questions to our AMA guests. AMA topics have had over 265 thousand views. Incident that-shall-not-be-named he launched us in all the leading media, so at one point it was about our community also discussed at the state BHRT. It showed, among other things, the strength and reach of this community.

We did it successfully population census already r/BiHafter which we set as a goal to increase the proportion of ladies in our community. Maybe my feelings are deceiving me, but it seems to me that in recent months, many more women are writing on the Sabbath than was the case then. In addition, we continued with cultural exchanges – this year we had three. At one time we had a film and literature club on Discord, but they were shut down due to lack of interest, unfortunately.

Due to the increased volume of work, the moderation also received two new members in its ranks. First, ours u/kingfisher-loverthe first female mod in r/BiH cyberspace. And then, recently, a long-standing and respected member of our community, u/stormthegreat.

We won’t talk about all the small and petty victories (hint: we learned to write titles and separate paragraphs) now, I’ll just thank you all for being part of the community, and wish you a happy New Year.
